The pattern of the Mapfre in the Volvo Ocean Race, the Gipuzcoan Xabi Fernández, will collect on September 2 in Baiona the National Vela Terras Guda Award that recognizes it as the best regatist of the year. In addition to assessing its extensive and laureate career as a sportsman, the award especially awards its participation, as the only Spanish representative, in the last edition of the Copa América.
Fernández was part of England's armed challenge to take over the Jarra de las 100 Guineas, the precious trophy of the world's most important sailing competition, in which he fought on board the Land Rover BAR armed by Ben Ainslie. The Maserati of Puerto Portals, armed by Alvaro Irila and led by Olympic champion Fernando León, has been selected as the best ORC boat for the National Selling Awards of Terra Guda, some awards created more than 25 years ago by Mount Real Club of Yates de Baiona, which recognize the best of the sailing in Spain.

At the time of his election, the jury that awards the awards has especially valued the victory achieved in 2016 by the Maserati in the thirty-fifth edition of the Mapfre King's Cup, in which he made the win after dealing with some of the best ships of today and patterns of the size of Rayco Tabares, Alex Rodger, Jaime Rodríguez Touges or Rui Ramada, among others. Fernando León and his people managed to get the most prestigious trophy in the Mediterranean just when they were doing twenty years of another of the great feats of the legendary patron, that of achieving gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games along with José Luis Ballester, with whom he competed in the Tornado class.

The monthly ABC supplement of the Nautica has been awarded this year with the Mariano Aguado Award for Communication of the National Sailing Awards of Terra Guda for the dissemination it has been making, for more than a decade, of the main news related to the sailing that is produced in Spain. Created in April 2006 by the dean of the Spanish nautical press, Pedro Sardina, ABC de la Nautica has not since failed a single month to meet with the kiosks.
It has done so, keeping true to the goal with which it was born, to inform and analyse everything that happens in the world of nautical in Spain from a strictly sporting vision. And all this, reaching over two million seven hundred thousand readers of the ABC paper version and over 40,000 people who, each month, download the digital version of the supplement. For all these reasons, the jury of the National Vela Terras Guda Awards has decided to grant ABC de la Nautica a prize that Pedro Sardina himself will be in charge of collecting on September 2 in Baiona.
A prize that will also be a recognition of the figure of this Madrid journalist who owns the Medal of Naval Merit with a white mark and a professional experience of over 42 years, in which the coverage of 7 Olympic Games, 11 American's Cup, 11 World Rits, 35 King's Copes and 22 Prince of Asturias Trofeos, among many others, stands out.
18 / 08 / 2017: The Jury of the Guda Wars fails in favor of "Spanish Impulse" as the best race team
The Spanish Impulse by Iberostar has been recognized by the jury of the National Vela Terras Guda Awards as the best race team of the year. The crew, made up of seven Spanish regatists at the highest level, will receive the award in Baiona next September, which recognizes their performance by representing Spain at the Youth America's Cup, the youth version of the American Vela Cup, held last June in Bermuda.

The "rooster" team, as they are popularly known, includes Olympic regatists Jordi Xammar and Diego Botín; world champions Joel Rodríguez, Florian Trittel and Kevin Cabrera; and Spanish champions Luis Bugallo (the golden redhead) and Joan Cardona.
Its courageous and innovative project, led by Alfredo Mella and María del Mar de Ros, based on the union of talent and effort, as well as the results obtained in the most prestigious and ancient sailing competition in the world, have been the aspects valued by the jury of the National Vela Terras Guda Awards to award them the best race team. A new recognition for young sailors who already work towards a new goal, becoming the fifth Spanish Challenge of Copa América.
16 / 08 / 2017: Terra Guda Awards: Echávarri and Pacheco best Olympic team of the year
The Galician Fernándo Echávarri and the Canaria Tara Pacheco will receive next September in Baiona the National Terra Guda Sailing Award for the Best Olympic Team, a award that recognizes their spectacular sports career throughout the last season. After completing a great performance at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, where they stayed at the gates of the Medal Race, Echávarri and Pacheco returned to Spain with the desire to continue giving everything, and the podiums were taken over.

Last June, on board their Nacra 17, they were made with the gold medal of the Sailing World Cup, played in Santander. It was his third gold of the season, following the victories signed at the Princess Sofia Trophy and the World Cup Series (SWC) in Hyéres, France. Just a few days ago, in Kiel (Germany), the Echávarri-Pacheco tandem went back to the podium of winners, this time as the subchampions of Europe of Nacra 17, in a competition that premiered in the navigation with foils.
With all these achievements behind him, the 44-year-old Pontevedrés Fernándo Echávarri, Olympic champion with Anton Paz of the Tornado class; and the 28-year-old grancanaria, Tara Pacheco, world champion and European 470, will receive a well-deserved recognition of his most recent career next September.

The Marin Military Naval School has been distinguished this year with the National Vela Terras Gauda Award to the institution of the year for the work it has done, for three centuries, in the scientific, humanistic, military and marine training of the officials of the Spanish Navy. The jury who awards the awards also wanted to recognize with this award that the School has become, throughout its history, one of the main generators of scientific knowledge in Spain, in matters as related to the nautical world as cartography, meteorology, geodesy, engineering, hydrography, oceanography or astronomy, among others.

The Military Naval School will receive the National Vela Terras Gauda Award to the institution of the year coinciding with the 300 anniversary of its creation in 1717 in addition to training Navy officers, the School has for years been one of the main generators of scientific knowledge in Spain
The Marin Military Naval School will receive the award in the year that it marks the 300 anniversary of its birth, in 1717, when the Intendent General of the Patiño Navy ordered its creation under the name of Royal Marine Guard Company. Since then, with different denominations and locations, the institution has been the cradle of the officers of the Navy, and through its classrooms have passed the last three generations of the Spanish Royal Family, its students being Don Juan de Borbón, Don Juan Carlos de Borbón and the current King Philip VI.
The Commander of the Military Naval School, José María Núñez Torrente, will be in charge of collecting the National Vela Terras Guda Award to the institution of the year in a gala to be held on September 2 in Baiona, coinciding with the celebration of the Prince of Asturias Trophy, which organizes the Mount Real Club of Yates.
