The Koopmans 46 "Free Spirit" of the Abra de Getxo Maritime completes the Fastnet Race
The "Free Spirit" vizcadino of Pablo Toja was able with the legendary Rolex Fasnet Race, completing it and thus becoming the seventh shipowner of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club to achieve it. It is added to the historical ones Juan Olábarri, Jorge Churruca, Jaime Unceta, the Count of Zubiría, Juan Ignacio Gomeza and José Luis de Ugarte.
The "Free Spirit," a Koopmans 46, was able to complete the 600 established miles of tour between the ports of Cowes, Wight Island, and Plymouth, in southern England, on a traditional date. "This is a team job of many people and it is an honor to enter that list of navigators of the Club." The Fasnet, whose history was born in 1925 and has a biannual character, is one of the most feared and venerated sailing competitions in the world. The best known point of this test is Fasnet Rock, a rocky promontory in front of the southern end of Ireland. It is the world's most famous natural beacon and is known as the tear of Ireland. Pablo Toja and his' Free Spirit 'crew have made history.
