Fernando Echávarri and Tara Pacheco today won the European subchampionship of the class Nacra 17, in Kiel waters, which in this competition premiered the navigation with foils. The Spanish team, which began the day in fourth position, competed brilliantly in a final to three sleeves in which they made two seconds and a third place. The competition format has been "stressful" for the entire fleet.

The Nacra 17 medallion was at stake until the last sleeve and the podium positions were defined by just one point of difference between the first three. The Italian team formed by Ruggero Titta and Caterina Banti achieved gold with 61 points. In the third drawer of the podium, the British duo, composed of Ben Saxton and Katie Dabson, went up with 63 points. Echávarri and Pacheco, seconds, finished with 62 points.

In the 49er FX class, the Munté Carrasco sisters rose up with the youth subchampionship, thus meeting some of the objectives set for this European Championship. The silver group of the FX, in which Carla and Marta Munté were sailing, today could not dispute any evidence for the strong wind that blew at the beginning of the day. "We would have liked to compete today and be able to go up in the general, but in the end what we will remember will be the youth podium," said the Catalan patron, who occupies position 26 of the general. The Catalan sisters confessed that this was, for them, "a round summer": in early July they got bronze in the youth world of their class and today they were made with the youth silver in the absolute European. The 49th FX podium was followed by the German Tuz / Beucke. In second position, the European of his class ended the British Dabson / Tidey; the bronze was for the Jurczok / Lorenz germanas.

There was no race for the participants of the 49th class, last in the program of the day, because the wind reheated in the first hour of the afternoon. In this way, Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra have said goodbye to the European Championship since the 10th place in the general classification, let us new Europeans. The rest of the fleet was able to complete two sleeves and the Federico and Arturo Alonso brothers managed to climb up to the seventeenth position. The British Fletcher-Scott / Bithell proclaimed themselves European champions followed in the classification by the Australians Gilmor / Turner. The European podium was completed by the English Peters / Stort and the Italians Peters / Stort.
