The fleet, which sails this Sunday from the pants of the Bouzas Maritime Liceum, consists of a combination of thirty motor and sailing vessels. The Association Amigos de la Ruta Marítima del Apostle Santiago a Galicia, which is chaired by Javier Grande, is responsible for organizing the journey, an appointment with tradition and the sea that in 2017 will arrive in the ports of the Portuguese town of Viana do Castelo, and the Gallegos of Commud, Cabo de Cruz and Vigo, during the transit that will begin to be traced on July 30 until August 5, having ahead of about 200 nautical miles, to culminate with a naval stop, in San Simón.

The route, which symbolizes the passage of "The Traslatium" of the body of the Apostle James, recalls the legend of the Cabaleiro das Cunchas, a medieval noble killed by a spear on the banks of Bouzas, succumbing to the life within its waters, and returned to it with the passage of the body of the Apostle, leaving the sea on the loins of his horse covered with shells, attributing the miracle to the same James.

Since 2010, the Association of Friends of the Maritime Route has promoted the initiative, joining Portugal with Galicia, to take the pilgrims to Santiago, encouraging the Compostela that is given to them in the same Cathedral, following the celebration of Mass and Blessing. The Concello de Vigo, the Receptación de Pontevedra, Rías Baixas, Consorcio de la Zona Franca de Vigo, Banco Mediolanum, Portos de Galicia, Xacobeo Galicia, Liceo Marítimo de Bouzas, Porto Norte, STA España, Correduría de Seguridad S4 and the Concello de Viana do Castelo, Poio y Boiro participate in its organization.
