The Cabildo de La Gomera welcomed the presentation of the summer season of the Adrián Hotel Macaronesia Regatta Team, which will also represent the island, with the sponsorship of the island institution and Promotur, in the next Ocean Regata of the 525 Anniversary that will join Huelva with La Gomera.

The event was attended by the Tourism Councillor, María Isabel Méndez; the shipowner-master of the ship, Daniel Adrián; and other members of the crew who gave details of the sponsorship and the incidence that it will have in those ports where it plans to scale this ship in the coming months.

"It is very good news for La Gomera to be present at such relevant sports events as the Catalan Championship, the Conde Godó Trophy of Barcelona, the King's Cup in Palma de Mallorca and the 525 Anniversary Ocean Regata," said Tourism Advisor María Isabel Méndez, who added that this promotional action has an impact on one of the tourist segments in which the island seeks to consolidate itself: nautical tourism. "We have all the conditions for our island to be the scene of sports practices as attractive as hiking or sailing," he said.

Daniel Adrián said the team is prepared and motivated to join Huelva with La Gomera. In this line, the master of the boat noted that this sports test "is an important challenge," although he hopes to get a good result, as much of the team has participated in other editions of the race.

Known as "El Macaronesia" among its crew, the ship will make its fourth ocean trip and has chosen the island of La Gomera to present its summer season, which includes the participation in the King's Cup that will take place in Palma de Mallorca from July 31 to August 5.

The Adrián Hotels Macaronesia has become the reference of the Canary Islands in the national circuit of cruises. The ship armed and patronized by Daniel Adrián premiered season in Barcelona participating in the prestigious Trophy Conde Godó and its next goals will be in August the Copa del Rey Mapfre and in September the return to the archipelago competing in the Ocean Regata Huelva-La Gomera.

The 36 Copa del Rey Mapfre is considered the Mediterranean summit race. 140 vessels of 24 different nationalities will participate. The Adrián Hotels will participate in the class ORC 1, as it did in Barcelona where it ended up at the Top Ten. In Palma de Mallorca he will be back in the queen class, with 34 registered ships, and that will be held between July 31 and August 5.

After the Copa del Rey Mapfre the Adrián Hotels will take a course to the Canary Islands and will take part in the Ocean Regata Huelva-La Gomera, from 2 to 9 September. This year marks the 525 anniversary of the Discovery of America. It will be the return home of the Adrián Hotels, team that will participate for the fourth time in the race between Palos / Mazagon and San Sebastián de la Gomera.

And once in the Canary Islands the Adrián Hotels Macaronesia will participate in the races of the canary circuit such as the Prince of Asturias in Gran Canaria and the Infantas Trophy of Spain in Tenerife.

The crew of the Adrián Hoteles Macaronesia is 100% canaria, and where its shipowner Daniel Adrián, has always sought the presence of regatists all the islands on his team where there are 5 crew members from Tenerife, 3 from Palma and 1 from La Gomera, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.

This season the Adrián Hotels has acquired a new boat with which it will compete in the ORC class. It is a model Sydney 43 GTS, built in 2014 and in the 2015 season it rose to the podium in 8 of the 10 races in which it participated with victories in the Fasnet Rock, North Sea Race and fourth place in the Cowes Week, among other successes.
