This morning, the director of Marina de Denia, Gabriel Martínez and the environmental councilman of the City of Denia, Josep Crespo, presented the pioneering initiatives on the environment, launched by Marina de Denia this summer. "The constant concern of our port for the care of the environment has led us to expand the resources for this. Taking care of both the marine and urban environment is essential for our customers, when they arrive, to feel comfortable," said Gabriel Martínez.

Each ship that arrives at port, when registered, is delivered with three bags of garbage, each of a color. In this way, they will make a selective collection of the waste, and then deposit it in the appropriate containers. "To help all this we have developed plans, where the location of each container is explained. We have significantly increased the number of stationery. This year with the Hippie Market, we have had to expand the resources to keep the port clean."

In the offices of Marina de Denia you can also find the Citizen Decalogue against marine waste, edited by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment. In which we explain what can be done to take care of the sea and what are the marine waste. The whole port has also been equipped with packaging to collect the batteries. "And, as a follow-up to the campaigns that we have been carrying out for a long time with the children, we continue to deliver the Bitácoras Book of the Ecomar Foundation."

Gabriel Martínez has said that "business, taking care of the environment, works. We have increased employment by 20% over the last few months. This is the second issue we are concerned about, generating employment. We're already 300 people and we're gonna grow more."

During the press conference, the director of Marina de Denia, has also pointed out that "we must work to start a policy of the future with the theme of the fondeans. We cannot pretend to have more than 3,000 ships between Denia and Xàbia and only 100 buoys." In this regard, Josep Crespo has commented that "we must sit down and talk about this issue, as it is part of tourism, the main source of wealth of our city."

The Council of the Environment has welcomed the initiatives launched by Marina de Denia. "Whatever it is to promote, raise awareness and disseminate environmental care should be applauded. We are next to a marine reserve and taking care of it is fundamental. This is the line of work and we are proud. We have to spread it to make more companies take an example and do the same."
