The April Oils of the brothers Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal managed to revalidate on Tuesday his title as champion of the Count of Gondomar- Trophy Banco de Sabadell, a trophy that the ship of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo had already won in two previous editions, in the years 2013 and 2016. The silver was for the "Pairo 8," who sailed in this edition led by two young patterns of just 22 years, Alberto Basadre and Luis Bugallo. By alternating to the cane in the different stages, it was both those who took the boat armed by José Luis Freire on the podium of honor. The bronze Solventis by Alberto Moro, who sailed in grympola of Mount Real Club of Yates and with Malalo Bermudez as patron.

The Unus of Luis García Trigo, from Monte Real, was the ship that was made with the victory in the class PSA Retail ORC 2-3. He did so by improving his results in each of the trials that were being held since last Saturday. The second prize of the class went to the Sada Navy by the hand of the Inosa, by Cándido Losada; and the third was taken by the Fend la Bise, by Jean Claude Sarrade, who ran through the organizing club.

In the Coca Cola ORC 4 class, the podium was formed as follows: at the top the Balea Dous of the Royal Nautical Club of Rodeira was raised. With Luis María Pérez at the command level, the crew signed the best results in their category, with three first positions in the four disputed tests. The following steps of winners were covered by two ships from Mount Real, the Margem do Azul III of Santiago Gómez and Frederico Lopes; and the Abal Abogados / Lagar de Pintos / Fanautic of Mariano Dios.

In class J80 Rías Baixas the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara left as a favorite and, despite not being able to achieve full victories, was the undisputed winner. The Marías of Manuel María Cunha and the Virazo of Guillermo Caamaño were second and third respectively. In the Fígaro Martin Miller class competition, it was in which the classification varied most along the different races, with continuous changes in the first positions. Finally, the Tutatis de Brais Acevedo, the Erizana de Rosalía Martínez and the Silleiro de Santiago Meygide joined the podium. The generations were like this:

24 / 07 / 2017: Oils April, Pairo 8 and Siradella copy the podium of the Gondomar-Banco de Sabadell

Second delivery of the Count of Gondomar Trophy - Bank of Sabadell Trophy that organizes the Mount Real Club of Yates of Baiona, a second fast manga and had for duties 32 miles between the archipelagos of the Cies and Ons, in the middle of the Atlantic Islands. In the Storax ORC 0-1 class, the Solventis, by Malalo Bermudez de Castro, was the first to complete the tour, in four hours and fifteen minutes. After him, the Oils Abril, Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal, and the Pairo 8, Luis Bugallo, the winner of the stage, were separated for just a few seconds. Once the times are compensated and the test points of yesterday and today are added, the provisional podium is occupied by the Oils April, the Pairo 8 and the Siradella; they go first, second and third respectively.

At 12 o'clock, on time as planned, the race committee gave way to the manga that the largest ships were disputed, a tour of almost 32 miles circumnavigating the Islas Cis and Ons... the north-west wind was allied with the sailboats and pushed them towards the lighthouse of Camouco with an intensity that rose from the 7 knots initial to the 18 with which it was maintained in almost all the route, reaching even points of 24 (Photo Rosana Calvo)

In the class PSA Retail 2-3, the Santorum & Martínez Group was the first in real time of today's day, but after the time compensation could not be found between the first three positions of the general, which occupy the Unus de Luis María García Tango, the Fend la Bise de Jean Clad Sarrade and the Inosa de Cándido Losada.

For the smaller ships, the regatta committee designed a minor tour, of just over 25 miles, leaving Baiona, walking the river of Vigo, turning the Lousal beacon and ending up in front of the southern island of Cis.

In the Coca Cola ORC 4 class, the Balea Dous, led by Luis María Pérez, remains the undisputed protagonist, with two victories in the two trials contested so far. There were no changes either in the second and third positions, which have maintained from the first day the Abal Abogados / Lagar de Pintos / Fanautic of Mariano Dios and the Margem do Azul III of Santiago Gómez.

In the J80 Rías Baixas class, the real-time winner of the test held on Monday was Javier de la Gandara's Okofen, who managed to take out his thorn for not having won yesterday and is already the leader of the general. Willy Caamaño's Virazo, winner of the first trophy race, today entered third and falls to the second position of the table. In the third drawer of the provisional podium is maintained the Namasté de Luis de Mira.

In the Figaro Martin Miller class, the Bouvento of Ricardo Acevedo consolidates his leadership in the general classification after repeating the victory he already achieved on the first day. The second position is for an entirely female crew, led by the vice-comode of Mount Real, Genoveva Pereiro, and manned by students of the School of Sailing of the Baionese club. In third position, tied to points with the second, the Serralleiras de Ramón Palao is placed on the provisional podium.

23 / 07 / 2017: "Santorum-Martínez" takes the length of the Count of Gondomar-Banco de Sabadell

The Santorum & Martinez Group of the Boiro Nautical Club is the virtual winner of the stage of the Carrumeiro Chico, the longest and most exciting of the 42nd Count of Gondomar - Trophy Banco Sabadell, which is held these days in the Rías Baixas. The crew patrolled by Javier Durán will have to wait until tomorrow Monday for the protest presented by a car with the Salseiro of the Royal Nautical Club of A Coruña, to know if the final winners of the test are finally found.

The Santorum & Martínez was the most favored ship for time compensation and the April Oils, of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, the fastest to complete the route of just over 95 miles back and forth between Baiona and the Carrumeiro Chico. After leaving Baiona Bay at 11: 10, and after more than nine hours of navigation, the sailboat led by Luis Pérez Canal turned the Corcubion lighthouse at 8: 30 and crossed the line of arrival at 2: 25 in the morning, achieving a time of 15 hours and 15 minutes of navigation. Just five minutes later the test was completed the Pairo 8, also of the nautical Vigués, patronized by the young Alberto Basadre, who was kept at the head of the test with the April Oils.

Under the sixteen hours of navigation they also managed to complete the race the Solventis del Monte Real, with Malalo Bermudez de Castro at the head; the Siradella de Portosín, led by Francisco Gude; and the Grupo Santorum & Martinez, which crossed the arrival at three and seven minutes in the morning, about to reach sixteen hours from the departure.

Despite the difficulty of the test, one of the toughest of the nautical competitions in Spain, there were hardly any major incidents. In addition to the clash between the Santorum & Martinez and the Salseiro, only two ships, the Alma do Mar, from the Sada Navy, were removed from the test, which broke the rudder after playing in a few bass as the Carrumeiro was approaching; and the Marara IV, from the Rias Baixas Maritime Club, which was left without wind and decided to power... by Monday the "half" between the archipelagos of the Cies and Ons, in the middle of the Atlantic Islands Park.

22 / 07 / 2017: El Gondomar-Banco de Sabadell to the Carrumeiro Chico

The forty-second edition of the Conde de Gondomar Trophy, which is held until next Tuesday in the Rías Baixas under the organization of the Mount Real Club of Yates and under the patronage of Banco Sabadell, began with good wind and great anticipation on the water.

The competition began on time at 11: 00 in the morning with the departure, to the Carrumeiro Chico, of the ships of the Storax classes ORC 0-1 and PSA Retail 2-3, which after taking the dismantling, they undertook a tour of almost a hundred miles away that will not end until the morning of Sunday, with the arrival of the last sailboats. Just a quarter of an hour after the departure of the great ships, and after readjusting the race field because of a wind roll, the horn for the fleet of the classes J80 Rías Baixas and Figaro Martin Miller, which competed in real time, resonated in Baiona Bay. Also for the class Coca Cola ORC 4, for which the regatta committee established the same route, a route of just over 29 miles back and forth to the lighthouse of Camouco, in the vicinity of the island of Ons.

The fleet left Baiona Bay by quite agile Carallones, driven by a north-west wind of between 7 and 8 knots, but just after taking that first beacon, a glow stalled the ships for almost three quarters of an hour. Finally a breeze came in through the Cies and the crews resumed the pace of navigation. In the J80 Rías Baixas class, the Virazo del Monte Real Club de Yates, led by Willy Caamaño, was the first to take advantage of that wind and could take advantage of the rest of the sailing boats. He won the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara, his greatest rival and the one who left, a priori, as a favorite. The third to cross the arrival line was the Namasté of Luis de Mira.

In the Figaro Martin Miller class, the main protagonist of the day was Ricardo Acevedo, who, on board the Bouvento, was able to lead a group of students from the School of Cruise Sailing of Mount Real until the first position of the classification. He also did so in a strong way, taking a great advantage of the rest of Fibarians and finishing the test very close to the J80. The second and third positions of the provisional classification are the Silleiro de Santiago Meygide and the Serralleiras de Ramón Palao.

In the Coke class ORC 4, the six hours and twenty minutes that the Balea Dous used to complete the test place it, today, as a favorite to climb to the top of the podium of the Count of Gondomar Trophy. The boat of the Royal Nautical Club of Rodeira, patroned by Luis María Pérez, is followed in the classification of two ships of Mount Real, the Abal Arogados-Lagar de Pintos- Fanautic, of Mariano Dios; and the Margem do Azul III of Santiago Gómez.

21 / 07 / 2017: La Fastnet Galaica, the Count of Gondomar-Banco de Sabadell, heading to Finisterre

The highest-weight race of Spain, the Conde de Gondomar- Banco de Sabadell, begins in the waters of Baiona with the organization of the Monte Real Club de Yates. Created in 1976 when it was the comandoro of the Yates Club that was assistant to the King of Spain, Rafael Lorenzo Montero, and sailing delegate Humberto Fernández- Cervera, the "Conde" is something different in the national calendar of high-rise races... was born with an Olympic tour and two regats to and from the beautiful seaside village of Muros... until in the year 1980 coinciding with the II Regata Lymington- Baiona which was organized with the number one nautical club, with the Royal Ocean Racing Club, it was chosen for a region of 100 and a half-mile between the Baion-one-and-one-one-one-one-one-two-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-two-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one-one

En la imagen de Rosana Calvo, el "Corsario" de Javier Durán... uno de los más fuertes a priori

In the image of Rosana Calvo, the "Corsario" of Javier Durán... one of the strongest a priori

The first "long" race of the Gondomar was won by the legendary Irish ship, the Swan 441 "Moonduster" by Denis Doyle. But the route was changed on the initiative of Estanislao Durán García, then comandoro of the Yates Club and his vice-comandor Jacobo Fontán Domínguez... heading for the Carrunmeiro Chico!... was the sixth edition and thus invariable until this year in the four-year edition. By the way the rise to the Chico Carrumeiro always carried the "last name" of Regata Jesús Valverde... name that should not be lost and should be recovered immediately. "Father Jesus" is essential to understand the history of the Royal Mount and the Galician candle, and neither should, nor can his figure fall into oblivion.

On the occasion of the 1990 quarter ton world, a special trophy was created for which it could beat the record in real time. The Trophy first sponsored the BBVA and left the chrono of a historic, "Alvaraván III" by Pablo García Arenal of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo... a chrono record that was beaten two years later by another of the great... Nacho Jáuregui del Real Club Marítimo del Abra - Real Sporting Club de Las Arenas with its boat "Zorongo," a beautiful First 51, which flew materially on the downhill to Baiona. His new record cost many years to overthrow it... the calendar marked July 2011 when the Cenor & De Dietrich, a Farr 50 of the Royal Galicia Regatta Club, was able to place its name in the history of the Count of Gondomar Trophy by spraying the record that the Basque Zorongo had maintained since 1992. The Arousan crew, led by Martín Bermudez de la Puente, completed the climb and down to the Carrumeiro Chico in just 11 hours, 56 minutes and 57 seconds, reducing by more than 30 minutes the numbers achieved by the Basque 19 years earlier.

The "Oils Abril" of the brothers Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal will be one of the ships we will see in the competition, trying to revalidate the title of Spanish Champion of Altura de la Zona Galicia that he achieved in the previous edition, will be one of the candidates for victory in this classic, as will the "Pairo 8," with one of the patterns that best unite youth and good doing on the water. After participating in the Youth America's Cup this summer, the young Vigués Luis Bugallo will once again lead the crew. Another strong one is the "Corsario VI" by Javier Durán, who, looking at Boiro's grompola, will try to repeat the results achieved in 2015, when he signed a double when he took the victory of the trophy and the Spanish High Championship.

From the north they will go down to Baiona to compete in the Carrumeiro test a regular of the great races in Galicia such as the "Salseiro," the Dehler 44 of Manuel Blanco of the Real Club Náutico de A Coruña; and the "Inosa" and the "Alma do Mar" of the Náutico de Sada, who will patronize Cándido Losada and Nito Enrique Arias. And from the south the Portuguese "Five" will arrive on Mount Real, a First 47.7 that will sail through the WeDoSailing-BB Douro club of Vila Nova de Gaia. Others to take into account will be "Marara IV" by Javier Montenegro, "Unus" by Luis García Trigo, "Siradella" by Francisco Gude, "Txole" by Ignacio Sánchez Otaegui or veteran ILC-30 "Fend la Bise" by Jean Claude Sarrade will be other ships that will try to win in this first trial of the Count of Gondomar Trophy, for which very changing weather conditions are foreseen.

19 / 07 / 2017: The most traditional race of height, the Count of Gondomar-Banco de Sabadell, to stage

The Monte Real Club de Yates presented in Baiona a new edition of one of the longest races of the Spanish nautical landscape, the Conde de Gondomar Trophy, which in 2017 is its forty-second edition. In the hands of Banco Sabadell as the main sponsor, the historic Baionese club reorganizes, one more year, a competition that has been holding continuously since 1976. The 42nd Count of Gondomar - Trophy Banco Sabadell will be held between July 22 and 25 in different points of the Galician rias, in a very wide field of regatta between Baiona and the Costa da Morte, in which a number of cross-border races and several barloventos-sotavento tests will be released. There will be four days of navigation that will bring together in the water sailing boats of the classes ORC, J80 and Figaro, with some of the most outstanding crews of the season. Among them will be the April Oils, winner of the previous edition of the trophy and current Spanish champion of Altura de la Zona Galicia.

As it is tradition, the competition will begin on Saturday 22 with one of the most complicated and exciting tests, the rise to the Carrumeiro Chico, in the Corcubion era, which in addition to scoring for the general classification of the trophy, will reveal the name of the new Spanish champion of Altura de la Zona Galicia. It is a long test, of almost 100 miles of round trip, reserved exclusively for the larger ships, of the classes ORC 0, 1, 2 and 3. The departure will take place at 11: 00 in the morning from Baiona Bay and the arrival of the first ships will not take place until well into the night. It is anticipated that the competition of the ORC 4 and the J80 and Fisbarians monotypes will be completed, which will not go up to the Carrumeiro, but will change much earlier, in the Camouco lighthouse, in front of the island of Ons.

On the second day of the race, scheduled for Monday 24 July, the entire participating fleet will share the same tour. It will sail the archipelagos of the Cis and Ons islands, in one of the most beautiful landscape of the Rías Baixas. The starting horn will be heard at 12: 00, and in the afternoon, after the test, the crews will be able to enjoy an evening at Mount Real Club de Yates, with a taste of gintonics by Martin Miller and Royal Bliss by Coca Cola and a marine dinner.

July 25, Galicia Day, will be a decisive day to finish defining the podiums of the 42nd Count of Gondomar - Trophy Banco Sabadell, as the latest tests, much more technical, often cause changes in previous classifications. From noon, two barlovento-sotavento tours will mark the beginning of the end of a competition that will award its winners in the afternoon, in an award ceremony to be held at Mount Real Club de Yates from 6: 00.
