María Perelló is the new world champion of Optimist in females, a title obtained in the Thai city of Pattaya, after six hard days. The shooting takes the witness of Aina Colom, also from the same nautical S'Arenal, when in 2014 it was made with the world scepter in San Isidro (Argentina).

This last day was of real nerves. Perelló's difference with his rivals was short, especially with 15 on the Thai Palika Poonpat and 26 on the American Charlotte Leigh, occupying the third place in female. Tight numbers that made any mistake expensive. It was not so since the wind, after a blow in the Gulf of Thailand, completely disappeared.

The committee set delta just over 9: 00 local time, after many hours in the water and waiting for better wind conditions that never arrived, no more than 2-3 knots of intensity, about 14 hours the committee ended the day and the world. With this, Maria Perelló returned to the ground as the world champion. The second world square in this category has been for Palika Poonpat of Thailand followed by the American Charlotte Leigh.

LAST TIME: The Mallorcan Maria Perelló, from the S'Arenal Nautical Club, has been proclaimed today in Thailand as the new World Champion of Optimist. Perelló takes over from Aina Colom, also from the same club and was the last Spanish regatist to take on the world-class female scepter, a title I achieved in the 2014 Argentina World Cup.

The third day of the Optimist World Cup, which has been taking place in Thailand since 13 July and which will end next Thursday 20, is closed blank because it does not have enough wind conditions. The 2017 Optimist World Cup starts its season from tomorrow Thursday, July 13, ending next Thursday 20. It does so with five Spanish bazas: Jordi Lladó (Grupo Rojo), Álvaro Alonso, María Perelló (Grupo Azul), Nacho Baltasar and Samuel Beneyto (Grupo Amarillo), under the orders of Ramón Aixemeno and Kiko Econo. The 281 regatist fleet representing 62 countries has six intense days ahead of it, plus two in which will be the world center for nations at stake. The last edition in which Spain was podium on Team Racing was in the 2014 Argentina World Cup. The forecast, except for changes, is to complete two tests per day, although a maximum of three tests are not discarded in order to be able to recover any evidence that could not have been completed in a previous one.
