The European Vela Brotherhood presented in Baiona the I Regata Discoveries Race.

The Galician town of Baiona (Pontevedra) hosted the presentation of the Regata Discoveries Race and the investiture of the new members of the European Confraternity of the Vela, organization of the journey that will start from Lisboa-Cascais on August 27 and that will culminate on September 3 with the award of prizes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

During the events Francisco Quiroga, Gran Maestre, and Eugenio López, director of the race, presented the characteristics of the Regata Discoveries Race and it was emphasized that it was also a sporting event a tribute to the armed of the countries that made the most discoveries, those of Spain and Portugal.

More than 200 people attended the presentation and also held various talks and conferences, where they highlighted those made by Diego Colón de Carvajal, who discussed the travels of Cristóbal Colón, and that of Camilo José Cela Conde, who spoke of his life as a man linked to the sea and as a sailor.

The next investigation was also presented from 30 May to 3 June 2018 at the Canela Island Tourist Resort (Huelva) and will be developed by the cofrades of Huelva and Algarve, being therefore the first to be organized between two countries.
