After closing on Saturday the Spanish championship in the waters of the Majorcan of Pollença, next to the Spanish cup held in Altea, the official ranking is established with the five regatists who get the place for the world (11-21 July) and the seven for the European (30 July-6 August).

The Real Club Náutico Port de Ponllença closed on Saturday the Spanish Championship of the Optimist class, second and final trial next to the Spanish Cup, which was held in Altea from 14 to 16 April, to form the official ranking of the class and thus determine the 12 Spanish representatives for the two great international dates: World in Thailand (Royal Varuna Yacht Club - 11 to 21 July) and European Championship in Bulgaria (Yacht Club Port Bourgas - 30 to 6 August).

As for the world-wide event, Spain will be represented by two Canarian regatists and both of the Real Club Náutico Gran Canaria: Samuel Beneyto (second world with Spain) and Alvaro Enol Alonso, and three of the Balearic Islands: Jordi Lladó (RCN Palma), participated with the national combination in the European of Crotone in 2016; Nacho Baltasar (CN Sa Ráptia) and María Perelló (CN S'Arenal.

With regard to the members of the team for the European one will combine veteran and new knowledge: Manuel Álvarez-Dardet (CN Puerto Sherry) and Ignacio Toronjo (RCM Punta Umbria) have already been part of the Spanish team. The first of them was in the 2016 World Cup of Portugal and the second in the European one that year in Crotone. Together with them, Pau Mesquida and Marta Cardona, both of the Nautico S'Arenal; Laura Martínez (RCN Palma); David Santacemu (RCN Tenerife) and Marina León (RCR Cartagena).
