Jacobo Fernández in Optimist and Alvaro Alegría with Juan García-Ovies in Snipe, were proclaimed winners of the Summer Trophy of Vela Ligera that has organized the Real Club Astur de Regatas. The sixth and last day of the Summer Trophy, which organizes the Gijón Regatta Club, was not celebrated by the strong wind rachas, together with the intense chucucoccas and instability in the regatta field of the Gijonese Bay. The Regatas Committee decided to cancel the closing sleeves also for safety.

Therefore, and after 8 sleeves completed, the victory in the Snipe class was achieved by the couple formed by Alvaro Alegría and Juan García- Ovies who were the most regular of the Trophy, did not win any sleeves, however, they were always among the first classified. It is the circumstance that Alvaro Alegría revalidates the triumph achieved last year, but with different proel. The second square was for, Guillermo Marqués and Ignacio Prendes only two points from the first. The third position was achieved by the brothers, Francisco and Maria Palacio, with four partial victories.

Among the Optimist, with 5 contested races, Jacobo Fernández was again the best year in a row, with two first in his locker, followed by Eva Martínez three points from the first, the third place in the general was noted, Covadonga Fernández who would win one of the sleeves.

In the Snipe class, the couple formed by Francisco and María Palacio, in their first participation in the trophy, won the two sleeves of the day, but away from the first positions of the general. The couple composed of Guillermo García and Bruno González, who also participated, for the first time, got a second and third position. For their part, Pepe Palacio and Diego Jiménez third and second in the sleeves of the day, are placed in the third place on the classified table. The leaders in Snipe are Guillermo and Ignacio Mendes, the only couple that has been present in all the sleeves held so far, on Sunday were awarded a fifth and a fourth place.

Among the Optimist, Jacobo Fernández was the best and leader of the class, followed by Eva Martínez, who was third in the only contested manga. In the Snipe class, José Palacio and Diego Jiménez won the first manga, followed by Jaime Álvarez-Hevia and Laura Rodríguez, finishing third brothers Álvaro and Beatriz Alegría. 29 / 06 / 2017: In Gijón begins the Summer Sailing Trophy organized by the Maritime Astur of Regatas

This Saturday starts in Gijón Bay, the Light Sailing Summer Trophy under the organization of the Royal Astur Club of Regatas. Twelve sleeves are scheduled to be held on alternate weekends, during the months of July, August and September. On Saturday at 12.30 p.m. it is planned to give the signal of attention in San Lorenzo Bay to the first of the six days scheduled.

The light sailing classes, which compete in the Summer Trophy are: Optimist, Lasers in its three disciplines, Feva and Snipe. Two sleeves are planned for each day, under a trapeze course, or a stick depending on the intensity of the wind, with a duration of approximately 45 minutes. Jacobo Fernández in Optimist, Alfredo Miranda in Laser 4.7, Daniel Menéndez in Laser Radial and the couple of Alvaro Alegría and Gonzaga Rubiera in Snipe, were the winners in the last edition and will again be present in the competition, where regularity is again a determining factor in winning the Trophy.
