The 2017 Transgascogne Regata of the class mini 6.50, has already confirmed the participation of 40 ships from Spain, France, Germany, United Kingdom and Italy, in addition to the regatists pending to confirm the registration. The forecast is that the final participation will reach the 70 ships. The event is organized by Les Sables d'Olonne Vende- Course Au Large, the Avilés Marine Nautical Club, the Avilés City Council and the avilesina Harbour Authority. Among the Spanish are the participation of Anna Corbella, who, together with the British Dee Caffari, became the first Spanish regatist to turn the world around on two no-stop or assistance after sailing for more than 102 days at the Barcelona World Race 2010- 11, on board the 'Gaes'. On the opposite side we find Marta Güemes, Canary and debutante in the Atlantic Ocean, for which he has been preparing for two years. The race will leave the French town of Les Sables d'Olonne on Sunday, July 30, towards the city of Avilés as a port of destination. The arrival in Avilés of the first ragatists is scheduled for August 1 and will remain in the city until Saturday August 5, when they will return, in a second manga, to Les Sables d'Olonne.
This international test has a two-year classification character for the mythical Mini Transat. The name of the race is due to its tour of the Gulf of Vizcaya - in French it is named Golfe de Gascogne- but also to the kind of ships that participate in it: vessels of six meters and fifty centimeters. In the Transgascone, for the sake of the safety and control of the fleet, no more than 80 vessels can participate, grouped in four ways: series and proto, alone or two, with a total tour of about 700 miles through the Gulf of Vizcaya. The participating vessels are always controlled by five accompanying ships following the race. On previous occasions, the test took place in the marinas of A Coruña, Gijón, Santander, Ribadeo and Luanco, cities that, during the course of the test and as this year will happen with Avilés, became the only contact with land of the participants.
