A Porsche Kineo boat on a unique auction portal goes to auction
Until today, 27 June, Catawiki (www.catawiki.es), the unique article auction portal, is auctioning what is probably the last functional prototype in the world of the Porsche DNA boat named Porsche Kineo 27 'which was designed in 1990 and which was never marketed.
The Porsche Kineo 27 'was designed in 1987 by Porsche Design Group, the industrial design branch of the Stuttgart house, with the aim of becoming a luxurious and elegant' spaceship on water 'with which to navigate the seas. In 1990, ThyssenKrupp carried out the construction of three boat prototypes in order to start the production of the boat in series. But the excessive cost of manufacturing the Kineo 27', a total of 4 million dollars in the development and manufacture of the prototypes, threw off the initial plans and the boat never came to be produced. In fact, according to Jasper Jong, an expert on Catawiki ships, "We are aware that this is the only prototype of the Kineo 27 'that is preserved in the world and is also in the prefect state."
Its current owner, who has now decided to auction the boat in Catawiki, bought the prototype in 2012 and carried out restoration work that ended in 2015 with the aim of recovering the original state of the Porsche Kineo 27 '. This is how he has managed to rescue this true jewel that is completely functional and that after being restored only has five hours of navigation.
Those who want to bid for it should know that the grey boat is 8.69 meters long (28.5 feet long) and 2.45 meters wide (8 feet sleeve) equipped with two Twin Mercruiser MAG 454 - V8 engines with a power of 724 cv, being able to reach a maximum speed of 69 knots (128 km / h). In addition, the boat has a cabin where you can rest quietly and relax on your comfortable seats and listen to music thanks to the musical equipment installed.
"The Porsche Kineo 27 'is certainly synonymous with luxury and speed, but above all it is a real jewel because it is not only unique in the world but is made in a artisanal way, because prototypes were not made in series. If we add to this the subsequent restoration, its value is even greater. Therefore, given its uniqueness and exclusivity and the potential interest among collectors of pieces like this one, we have estimated that its value in this auction could be between 152,000 and 200,000 euros," Jong points out.
The auction ends on Tuesday June 27 at 20h and you can see all the details and photos of it at the following link: www.catawiki.es / speedboot
