Located in the area of Port Fòrum, the Barcelona International Sailing Center has become a reference sports centre for both national and international sailors... having been qualified as one of the three training centres of the World Sailing, the International Sailing Federation.

Located in the area of Port Fòrum, the Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC) is five years of life, becoming a high-performance national and international navigation benchmark. With athletes from all over the world, the BISC has since last year been one of the three centres accredited as a sailing training center for the World Sailing, also known as the International Sailing Federation.

This global recognition has been granted thanks to its complete facilities: a wide area of stray for the boats, rooms with all the comforts, a specific room for drying and neoprene, gym with state-of-the-art machines specifically designed to train movements that will then be made at sea, etc. In addition, for foreign teams, the BISC offers all the facilities of a high-performance residence: there are 14 bedrooms with a total capacity of 76 people, multi-purpose rooms and a dining room that is adapted to the times and nutritional needs of each sportsman. Another important element is that it is a sustainable and fully accessible building for the disabled.

According to Francesc Fayol, director of the BISC, "we are an international sailing 'hub', a technological center available to the regatists who want to come and train." As the centre of the Catalan Vela Federation, the BISC is exclusively aimed at elite athletes. "Anyone who is here must be federated and, as a result, belong to a club. Therefore, we do not want to be anyone's competition, but to provide a plus to the regatists so that they have more facilities.", adds Fayol.

The BISC has been the centre for the formation of large national regatists. Among the 14 athletes who formed the Olympic team in Rio were five Catalans. "We are very proud of our athletes, there are so many who have managed to get to the top! In Catalonia there is a great culture of sailing," explains the director of the center. "Now, everyone has in mind the following great goals: this year's national and international competitions and, in 2020, the Tokyo Olympic Games. Without neglecting that, in October of this year, we will celebrate here at the BISC the European Laser Class Championship," Fayol continues. The BISC is also a training and residence area for the navigators of the Mini Barcelona Base, a project with operational headquarters in Port Forum dedicated to the training and preparation of athletes who want to participate in ocean races such as the Mini Transat 2017, or who simply want to improve their skills in the Mini class.
