Bergé sells its tug subsidiary to PO Repasa
The company P & O Repasa has been made with Reyser, the subsidiary of tugs and mooring of Bergé. The operation is part of Bergé's strategy focused on the distribution of cars, logistics services and port operations. For P & O Repasa it is a commitment determined by the Spanish port market, the origin of the company, within the strategy of international growth of its matrix, the dubiliti group P & O Maritime. For the president of Bergé, Jaime Gorbeña:"Car distribution, logistics services and port operations are the strategic axes of our business plan... in them we will concentrate our growth effort."The general director of P & O Repasa, Íñigo García, stated that "this acquisition is a great boost within the strategic plan initiated in 2014 with the entry of P & O Maritime, consolidating our position as reference supplier of tow and tie services in Spain".
According to Ports and Navieras, P & O Repasa belongs to the group of companies P & O Maritime, a subsidiary of maritime services of the port giant DP World. Based in Dubai, DP World operates 78 terminals in 40 countries and has a staff of 37,000. The operation, which has had the advice of Garrigues, Cuatrecasas and Mediobanca, is subject to the approval of the competition authorities, and could be valued at EUR 200 million, including the debt. For Bergé and Cia, this disinvestment responds to its objective of focusing on the distribution of cars, logistics services and port activities. In fact, the agreement with Dubai Ports comes a few months after Bergé and Cia close a financing agreement with 15 Spanish entities in the amount of EUR 750 million, which will be aimed at moving forward the new strategic plan and to accommodate its financial situation. In the automotive area, Bergé Auto is one of the world's leading car distributors with an estimated EBITDA for 2017 of 130 million euros. Reyser is a reference operator in port services and solutions in Spain with a presence on the international market through its operations in Canada and Trinidad and Tobago. Currently its expanding business area is the provision of port services dedicated to LNG terminals.
