According to ANEN, energy enrollments grow - May almost 13 points and rent 30
As of May 2017, 2,151 recreational boats have been registered in Spain, of which 763 are registered for the month of May, a month with the best result in the year. The growth of the nautical market in the period under review is 12.8% and in particular 21% in May. The boats registered for rental use (charter) maintain their growth, with an increase of 33% over the same period in 2016. These are the data collected in the Recreation Boat Market Report (energy-May 2017), edited by ANEN on the basis of information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
By length. The smaller length of the boat, up to 8 metres, is 10.8%, with 1,836 vessels, compared with 1,711 vessels registered between January and May 2016. This segment of ships is the most demanded and represents 88.1% of the nautical market. The segment between 8 and 12 meters grows by 23.1%, registering 149 enrolments compared to 121 last year. The ships between 12 and 16 meters grow by 34.5%, with 78 enrollments over the 58 in the same period of 2016. And the ships over 16 meters increase their records by 64.7% (28 units over the 17 registered between January and May 2016).
By type of boat, water motorcycles register 39.4% more than in the same period last year (with 524 registrations compared to 376 registered between January and May 2016). The motor ships grow by 4.4%, with 974 enrollments (933 registered in the same period of 2016).
The folding pneumatic vessels increase their registration by 19.3% and the semi-rigid vessels by 8.8%. Sailing is the only market that descends in the period under review, by -1.4%. The rental market has a 33% growth in recreational boat registration. As far as the year goes, 734 vessels have been registered for rent compared to 552 in the same period last year. The length up to 8 meters and the water bikes are the most demanded between January and May 2017 in the water charter market.
Catalonia, Andalusia and Balearic Islands remain at the top of the nautical market
Catalonia with 22.69% share, occupies the first position of the national nautical market and has a growth of 19.60%. Balearic Islands rises to the second position on the market, with a share of 17.57% and a growth of its enrolments of 17.03%. Andalusia is down to the third position per market share (16.32%) and has a decrease of -2% of its enrolment in the period under review. In the rental market, the first position remains for Balearic Islands with a share of 26.70%, followed by Catalonia which represents 23%, and the Valencia Community which has reached 18.8% of the charter market in the period under review.
