Adriana Pérez Canal was the winner of the Baitra Trophy in the optimist class

The 16-year-old athletes of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, Jorge Enríquez and Guillermo Núñez were finally made with the victory of the Baitra de Vela Infantil Trophy, held this weekend in Baiona. The competition, organized by the Monte Real Club of Yates under the sponsorship of Baitra Naval Accessories, was scheduled for Sunday its second and last day of testing, but the absence of wind in the bay of Baionese forced the regatta committee to suspend the planned sleeves.

After more than two hours of waiting in the water, the sailboats returned to the ground and the scores of the two races held on the first day of Saturday served to design the final general classification of the championship. In class 420, the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo placed two of its crews at the top of the podium. In sub-19 the gold Carlota Hernández and Ana Carrasco were taken; and Jorge Enríquez and Guillermo Núñez, in addition to winning in the sub-17 category, were the winners of the class's general classification. With very fast exits and taking certain risks in the navigation tactics, these two 15-year-old athletes continue to make steady progress in class 420, in which they have not been sailing for a year.

The second and third positions were distributed to the athletes of the Viguese nautical and the Baionese yacht club. In sub- 17 the silver and bronze were, respectively, for the teams formed by Alejandro Pérez Canal and Enrique Lagos, of the Real Club Nautico de Vigo; and Rosalía Martínez and Sandra Trigo, of Monte Real. In sub- 19, they occupied the second and third position Elena Molares and Enma Arana; and Yago González and Jorge González, all looking grumpola from the organizing club.

In the Optimist competition, Adriana Pérez Canal, from the Canido Maritime Club, was the real protagonist of the trophy. This small great regatist, daughter of an old sailboat known in Galicia as Luis Pérez Canal, owner and patron of the April Oil, went up to three times on the podium. He received gold from his category (Optimist A), the prize for the best female regatist of Optimist and the award of the class general winner.

The Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, the Monte Real Club of Yates and the Portuguese club We Do Sailing, of Vila Nova de Gaia were distributed the rest of the distinctions. In Optimist A, in addition to Adriana Pérez Canal, the winners Paula da Rocha and Diogo Lima were the winners; in Optimist B, the podium was made up of Liang Jane García, Rita Pinto and Helena Pérez Canal; and in Optimist C, Tiago Venino, Pablo Marquina and Inés Ameneiro took away gold, silver and bronze respectively.

20 / 05 / 2017: First day of the Sailing Dance Trophy in Baiona for optimist and 420

Nautico de Vigo y Marítimo de Canido fight for the podium of the Baitra Trophy, which is held this weekend in Baiona under the organization of Mount Real Club of Yates and with the sponsorship of Baitra Naval Accessories. The children's sailing competition held its inaugural day in Baionese Bay this afternoon under a beautiful spring sun, but with a wind that made it quite difficult to navigate the young regatists. The forecasts indicated that it would blow with some intensity, but after the first two races began to fall and prevented the other two sleeves that the committee had planned for this Saturday.

However, the two trials today made it possible to define a provisional podium in which the Viguese clubs have, for the time being, the greatest protagonism. In the competition of the 420, the team formed by Jorge Enríquez and Guillermo Núñez of the Real Club Náutico de Vigo stands out. With 15 years of age and less than a year of experience sailing on this type of ship, Jorge and Guillermo achieved two first positions this afternoon and lead the classification of Sub 16 and the class general. In Sub 19 another team of the Viguese nautical, that formed by Carlota Hernández and Ana Carrasco, is headed.

In the competition of the optimist, the provisional podiums of the different categories are held by Adriana Pérez Canal and Liang Jane García, aged 12 and 11, of the Canido Maritime Club; and the small 10-year-old Tiago Vesino of the Real Nautical Club of Vigo. After the initial tests this afternoon, the competition enters tomorrow in its final line with the last sleeves of the trophy, which will be held from 11: 30 in the morning in a regatta field that will again be located inside Baiona Bay. The committee's forecast is to give out four sleeves for the 420 and three equipment for the Optimist. In the afternoon, after the end of the activity in the water, the award will be held to the winners, who will receive their awards and economic prizes from several leaders of the Monte Real, as host club, and Baitra, as the sponsor of the event. The meeting with the winning podium is at 4: 30 in the gardens of the Baion club.
