The Optimist Excellence Cup 2017-2018 is taking shape. After the class assembly held at the last Spanish Cup, in which it was put to the vote and approved by a majority, the four headquarters that will host the four international citations of the class, within the Spanish circuit, were decided. The Nautical Club El Masnou and the Real Nautical Club El Puerto de Santa María take the witness of the Club de Vela Palamós and Real Club Nautico Gran Canaria. Real Club Nautico de Vigo and Real Club Nautico de Torrevieja are maintained, who will take the last test instead of doing it Palamós, hosting that fourth date in the last editions in February.

The first punctuable race for the OEC 2017-2018 will be between 8 and 10 September in El Masnou. At the end of October, with the same dates as in previous editions and except for changes, the Nautico de Vigo will take over. Already in 2018 and with the Regata Ciudad del Puerto as the main protagonist, the nautical El Puerto de Santa María hosts for the first time an OEC race in the waters of the bay of Cadiz and in Andalusia, the race is planned for the days of 2 to 4 January. The nautical of Torrevieja will on this occasion put the brooch of gold to the OEC 2017-2018 hosting the fourth and final test within its Regatta Trophy City of Torrevieja, fighting from 27 to 29 January.
