Incat arms contract of a catamaran of 109 meters per 74M €
Naviera Armas has awarded the Australian builder Incat, a new contract highlighted for its innovative design of a ferry. The new weapons ship is the second ship of the new generation of 109 meters high speed of the series of "catamaran" that will operate in Spanish waters. It is scheduled to be delivered in early 2019. The design is the work of the architects and naval engineers of the Incat staff, who have based their studies on the improvement of previous projects: The result is a new catamaran of 109 meters. According to Incat, this design will lead to significant improvements in performance, with greater speed performance, lower fuel consumption and greater directional stability.
The hull forms of these types of ships built in Incat were first introduced in the 109m Express 3 catamaran belonging to the Mors Linjen shipping, and which was delivered last April. During sea tests, Express 3 improved and reached a speed of 43 knots with 600 tpm. With this new order, it is up to three ships that Incat builds for the Navy. The above, we remind you, are: the Tirajana Volcano of 2015 (98 m) and the Tea Volcano of 2016 (96 m). This catamaran will have a service speed of 35 knots and capacity for 1,200 people (of which 155 in business class). It will be the first in southern Europe with a double load cover that will separate the rolling load. The main deck, with a height of 4.6 m will have capacity for 595 trucks online and the deck will exceed capacity for 215 cars.
