The "Madrid Maersk" a reign that will be very brief as number one world

The multinational Maersk Line has recently put into service the "Madrid Maersk," the first in a series of eleven container carriers that will constitute the second generation of the Triple E class, with capacity for 20,658 TEU. According to the Danish shipping company, this new ship is 7% more efficient than the first Triple E, maintaining its same dimensions. It is also the world's largest container carrier, an honorary quality that will last very little time.

The "Madrid Maersk" is the first of the 27 units that make up the Maersk Line order portfolio from 2015 and will receive it until the end of 2018, replacing other older and less efficient units. This shipping company had not received any new construction since July 2015. These 27 new vessels include, in addition to the above-mentioned series of 11 units of the second generation Triple-E; 9 vessels of 15,226 TEU and 7 vessels of 3,596 TEU. Overall, this order portfolio is equivalent to 11% of the current Maersk Line fleet, which it considers to be an adjusted percentage compared to the average of the sector, which is around 15%.
