The nautical market continues to grow... until April: + 8.78% total enrolment and + 31.7% for charter
As of April 2017, 1,388 recreational boats have been registered in Spain compared to 1,276 in the same period in 2016, which represents an increase in the nautical market of 8.78%. Registration of boats for rental use also continues to grow, up to April there have been 31.7% more registration for charter. These are the data collected in the Report on the market for recreational craft (energy - April 2017), edited by ANEN on the basis of information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
They grow all the length, highlighting the segments of larger boats, from 12 meters. The ships between 12 and 16 meters grow by 61.5%, with 63 enrollments compared to 39 last year; and the ships over 16 meters increase their records by 100% (22 units over the 11 registered in the same period of 2016). The vessels up to 8 metres (85.4% of the national nautical market), are registered 1,199 vessels compared to the 1,143 vessels registered from January to April 2016, a growth of 4.9%. The segment between 8 and 12 meters grows by 25.3%, enrolling 104 units over the 83 registered in the same period last year.
By type of boat, water motorcycles are 24.2% more than in the same period last year (with 282 registrations compared to 227 registered between January and April 2016). The motor ships grow by 0.3%, with 643 enrollments (641 registered in the same period of 2016). The folding pneumatic vessels increase their registration by 18.5% and the semi-rigid vessels by 15.5%. The candle also grows by 3.9% in the period under review. The rental market has a 31.7% growth in the registration of recreational boats for rental use. As far as the year goes, 424 vessels have been registered for rent compared to 322 in the same period last year. The length between 12 and 16 meters and the water bikes are the most demanded in this period in the water charter market.
Catalonia with 20.68% share, occupies the first position on the national nautical market and has a growth of 9.96%. Andalusia, the second Autonomous Community by market share with 17%, has a fall in the enrolment of recreational boats of -8% in this period. In the third market position, the Balearic Islands is maintained, with a share of 16.21% and a growth of its enrolments of 22.28%. In the rental market, the first position is for Balearic Islands with a share of 26.18%, followed by the Valencian Community which is 21.94% and Catalonia with 16.98%.
