The director of Tourism of Galicia, Nava Castro, and the president of Portos de Galicia, José Juan Durán Hermida, have signed a cooperation agreement that will strengthen the commitment of the Autonomous Administration to the international promotion of tourism and nautical activities in Galicia, as one of the elements that will allow to continue to work on the diversification and de-seasonalization of the Galician tourism through the collection of new flows of recreational ships or to enhance the rental of ships in destination, a practice that generates millions of euros and that in Spain only exploits with a remarkable volume the community of Balearic Islands.

The agreement includes the joint promotion on the outside of the harbour facilities and services for the nautical of which is available in the community, as well as the promotion of the nautical tourism activity offered by the region. To this end, both entities have confirmed that participation in the Grand Pavois Hall, in La Rochelle, in the Paris Nautical Hall and in the Southampton Boat Show, United Kingdom, is expected to be the main international sectoral competitions. In addition, two presentations will be held in the cities of Cork and Dublin in collaboration with Trespaña to spread the Galician offer on the Irish market and the Galician nautical and cruise offer will also be presented in Portugal. It should be recalled that in 2016 8,167 vessels from other countries were attacked in Galician ports, which represented a record and 4% growth in the community as a whole and up to 14.5% in the Rías Baixas marines.
