The rising struggle-poniente complicates the end of the Regata Marbella-Ceuta (29 / 04 / 2017)
A hard crossing of the Strait to Ceuta has been the dominant note of the first test of the I Marbella Intercontinental Regata-Ceuta. The Royal Maritime Club of Marbella early today. Committee, organization and participants were shaking their sleep at dawn in the hope of releasing ties to Ceuta.
But we still had to wait a little longer on the schedule to start the exit procedure at 10: 30. Rain and 12-15 knots of rising wind thus accompanied the premiere of the I Marbella Intercontinental Regata-Ceuta, with a first stretch of fast race in which the fleet was approaching Punta Europa.
Once at the foot of the rock, the wind fell and there was a flaunt of expertise and knowledge of the area to leave the well. With the lift and the ponyman fighting to dominate the area of the Strait, with the south-west sticking the nose between the two and a tree sea after the time of these days, the crossing of the Strait is being hard.
Before that, the Bavaria 34 Old Wolf of Juan Leyva was withdrawn with the flag of the CN El Saladillo of Algeciras, who decided to resign and stay in Estepona. The fleet had a hard time completing the last sections with a wind well that turned the final decision into a lottery. A mile and a half from the arrival the fight between the J 109 Mister J of Pablo Corrales (independent), the Grand Surprise Ceuta Yes (CV Vendaval) and the X-41 Makanaki of Daniel Cuevas (RCM Marbella) became strong.
When writing this note and waiting to know the outcome the head of the fleet is in a glow in front of the arrival line just 400 meters. The arrival time will be at 22: 00 h. for ORC 1 and ORC 2, and 23: 00 for ORC 3, ORC 4 and Reduced Crew.
The crews will be enjoyed after the long and complicated day of navigation with a reception at the El Cielo restaurant where the trophies will be delivered to the winners of the tour that has joined the cities of Marbella and Ceuta. For tomorrow the weather part announces clean wind of poniente and an average intensity of 10 / 12 knots, which will allow a nice journey sailing a long way back to Marbella. 11 a.m. is the time scheduled by the regatta committee of this I Marbella Intercontinental Regata - Ceuta to give the exit in front of San Amaro, between Punta Almina and the Puerto Deportivo de Ceuta Marina Hercules to Marbella.
The I Marbella Intercontinental Regata - Ceuta that is held until next Monday May 1, has the organization of the Club de Vela Vendaval de Ceuta, the Real Club Marítimo de Marbella, the Puerto Deportivo de Marbella and Marina Hercules- Puerto Deportivo de Ceuta, as well as the Federaciones de Vela andaluza and Ceutí.
