2017- COPA DE SM EL REY CLASS SNIPE - RCM MALAGA. CLASSIF.FINAL

30 / 04 / 2017: Valenzuela-Alexandre (Almería) send at the Copa del Rey de Snipe in Malaga

Almeries Raúl Valenzuela and Antolín Alejandre have today become leaders, after passing the equator, of the Trophy SM El Rey-75 Winter Regata - Spanish Cup for the international class Snipe, which is held from Friday and until tomorrow Sunday in Malaga, organized the Royal Mediterranean Club and the Andalusian Federation of Vela, by delegation of the Trade, Tourism and Sport Council of the Junta de Andalucía.

In the first sleeve, the nerves of the fleet were noticed, with a general call so we had to repeat this time with flag U. Just getting out, a few-degree role, offered interesting tactical decisions. The winner of the first manga was Pablo García and Lucas Rodríguez of the CN Los Nietos, followed by the provisional leaders of the CM Almería, Raúl de Valenzuela and Antolín Alejandre. From the second sleeve, a 10-degree role in barlovento has been benefiting the right side, with the fleet clearly betting on it. In the second test of the day, the victors Raúl de Valenzuela and Antolín de Alejandre were strengthening their leadership, as their second partial of the Cup was thus noted, followed by Marcos Miguez and José Ramón Pardo of the RCN de la Coruña.

The third manga with the peak intensity of the day has tested the physical preparation of the fleet with some wave and 15 knots of wind. The winners were the regatists of the RCN of Arrecife Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez, who were discarding an 18 of the second manga of the day and were fully in the third step of the provisional podium. By Monday the fleet has the last and final date from 12: 00 and the possibilities still remain very open. The award will take place after the competition in the Royal Mediterranean Club Navy.

29 / 04 / 2017: Canarias dominates in Malaga the 75 Cup of the King of Sailing Class Snipe

The tandem of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife de Lanzarote, composed by Alfredo Şlez- Cristian Sánchez and Rayco Tabares- Gonzalo Morales leads ex-aequo the provisional classification of the Copa del Rey de Vela of the Snipe Class, which began in the waters of the Costa del Sol with the organization of the legendary Real Club Mediterranean of Malaga with the support of the Andalusian Federation of Vela and the sponsorship of the Junta de Andalucía.

La primera manga del domingo está prevista para las doce de la mañana con una previsión mucho más favorable, sin lluvia, con viento de poniente y olas de medio metro

The first manga on Sunday is scheduled for 12: 00 in the morning with a much more favourable, rain-free forecast, with ponyant wind and half-meter waves

Winds of 12 to 15 knots, with tips close to the twenty, major wave, strong wind and intense rain has made it desist from competing part of the fleet, especially master and youth, which has remained on the ground waiting for the best conditions already announced for tomorrow... despite this the two sleeves held were very entertaining, imposing themselves on the first Gustavo del Castilla-Rafael del Castillo del Real Club Náutico Gran Canaria which however were placed in the second in a discreet first place. The Andalusian Raúl de Valenzuela - Antolín Alejandre of the Club de Mar de Almería took the second manga, after a seventh place in the first, which led them to the third of the general of the first day. Tomorrow.

26 / 04 / 2017: The Trophy SM The Rey-Snipe Winter Regatta celebrates its 75 anniversary

From April 28 to May 1, the Bay of Malaga hosts the Trophy His Majesty El Rey-75 Winter Regata and Cup of Spain for the International Snipe class, organized by the Royal Mediterranean Club and the Andalusian Federation of Vela, by delegation of the Trade, Tourism and Sport Council of the Junta de Andalucía. At the same time, the Martin Wizner Memorial and the South Daily Trophy will also take place for the same kind of light candle.

The race was presented today at a press conference with the presence of José del Rio, managing director of Málaga Sports and Events; Felix Gancedo, world champion, Olympic regatist and winner of this test on 15 occasions and Manuel Narváez, president of the Royal Mediterranean Club.

To date, 75 vessels have been registered from almost the entire Spanish coast. In addition to Málaga, regatists come from Cadiz, Almería, Granada, Valencia, La Coruña, Pontevedra, Asturias, Cartagena, Santander, Las Palmas, Mallorca, Menorca, Murcia and Madrid. There will also be foreign teams from Argentina, France, Germany, Norway, Poland and Portugal, up to 150 participants.

Among the regatists are the advocates of the title, Álvaro Martínez and Gabriel Utrera, absolute third parties in the 2015 Snipe World Cup and world youth champions in 2011. The Malagasy are not going to have anything easy, as they face the best regatists of the class, including the almerian Pablo Fresneda, champion of Europe; the menorcan Damian Borras, champion of Spain and of absolute Europe and champion of the Master World; the also menorcan Jordi Triay, champion of Spain or the almerian Raúl Valenzuela, twice champion of Europe, among other participants with a pallet grenade in the Snipe class.

The Trophy His Majesty The Rey-75 Winter Regatta is the oldest competition in Spain in light sailing. This race had a first history in the 20's of last century, with the so-called winter parties of the city of Málaga in which the Royal Mediterranean Club organized large races where many boats, both sports and Faeneras, took part.

After the Civil War, the Winter Regatas resurgen in the waters of the bay when there was not yet the Costa del Sol and Málaga was a winter city. The first winner of 1943 was the Canama Snipe, tripulated by Rafael Lacerda and lady, of the Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena. In that edition there were already 12 sailboats.

The Malagasy and the King

In 1972, the "Fortuna" Dragon with S.M. The King was the Spanish representative at the German Olympics. Its crew were two Malagasy regatists of the Royal Mediterranean Club: Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba and Larios and Félix Gancedo. After being named King, Don Juan Carlos, in consideration of the efforts of these two regatists, his love of the candle and his belonging to the nation's oldest nautical club, granted them the honour of putting their name on this Trophy. Since then, the Royal Mediterranean Club is the only Spanish Club that has a permanent race with the name of the King.

For this 75th anniversary, nine tests are scheduled over the three days of race, of which at least two sleeves are to be held for the validity of the event. There will also be no more than three tests per day. Regatists of the female, youth, absolute and master categories participate, although all compete in the same classification.

The winner of the S. M. El Rey Trophy and the Spanish Cup will be the patron who gets the minimum score and will be recorded on a silver plate in the original Trophy's crest with the year, name of the ship, fleet to which it belongs and name of the master and crew. For the final score you can count a test. The winner will also get the South Daily Trophy.

This Trophy S. M. The King will become the property of the master who won it three years in a row or five alternates, since his last award. Only four people own it during the 75 years of history of this competition: Carlos Gómez Raggio, Félix Gancedo, Carlos Llamas and Alejandro Fresneda.

As for the Martin Wizner Memorial Trophy, a Malaysian regatist who died prematurely in an accident at the Copa América training, it is obtained by the crew who obtained the minimum score. A test can also be ruled out. The Martin Wizner Trophy is won on property three years in a row or five alternates and has only been delivered on property once to Alejandro Fresneda.

This race was made possible by the sponsorship of La Caixa, Grupo Ibericar, Grupo Top Digital, Centro Audativo José Luis Domínguez and Ertheo.
