The "Oral Group Galimplant" of the Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo won the Repsol Trophy this afternoon in the four-year edition of the traditional Spring Regata of Mount Real Club of Yates. With a third position achieved on the Saturday day and the suspension of the Sunday race, the crew of this Salona 37, led by Pedro Pazos, had it difficult to get back on the last test on Monday. The ship of Sanxenxo completed the little more than fifteen miles of the route designed by the regatta committee in two hours and thirty-three minutes, overcome only by the "Pairo 8" which, with Luis Bugallo in front, was the fastest and first to cross the line of arrival.

The president of the Monte Real Club de Yates, José Luis Alvarez, was in charge of giving the awards to the winners of the class cruises-regata. The first one was also to stop at the hands of the crew of the "Oral Group Galimplant," and the silver and bronze were left, respectively, the "Bosch Service Solutions," of the Club Marítimo de Canido, patronado by Ramón Ojea; and the "Menudeta" of the Club Náutico Punta Lagoa, with Victor Carrión to the controls.

In the cruise class it was where the podium was most grudged, as the first and second ship were tied to points and the third one separated by just one point of the first two. The victory was taken by the veteran "Fend la Bise" who competes for the Monte Real Club de Yates patroniado by French Jean Claude Sarrade; the "Balea Dous" of Luis Pérez, of the Real Nautical Club of Rodeira; and the "Santiago Roma Rías Baixas" of Iñaki Carbajo, of the Beluso Nautical Club, were in second and third position.

30 / 04 / 2017: The wind season in Baiona, limits the Repsol to the monotypes

The meteorology was the protagonist, this afternoon in Baiona, of the second day of the Repsol Trophy, which is celebrated during this bridge on the first of May under the organization of the Monte Real Club de Yates. A sea with a lot of wave and winds up to 40 knots forced the race committee to postpone the start of the tests for four hours. Finally, after an improvement in the situation inside the bay, the monotypes were released. With a race field slightly larger than in the initial day, the fleet of J80, J70 and Fisgaros were fought two sleeves of just over three miles of journey, which they quickly faced and gave a great show.

In J80, Javier de la Gandara's Okofen increases its options of achieving the final victory of the trophy after achieving two first positions in today's races. In J70, the Bosch Service Solutions' new outstanding performance, patronized by Gonzalo Araújo. The ship of the Vigo nautical maintains the leadership it achieved after first day and increases distance from its most direct rivals, the Green April of Canido, with Luis Pérez Canal to the controls; and the Sogacsa of Vigo, led by Támara Echegoyen. Both are tied to points in the general and, pending what happens on the final day, would close the class podium.

In the category of Fibarians there were no changes in the first position, in which the Serralleiras of Elena Raga is maintained; but in the second and third place. The Ladeira of Alberto Iglesias, which came second of yesterday's day, fell to the third position today, and entered into the drawer of winners the Tutatis of the FEMAVE, patroned by Amparo Mollá, which goes second. In the edition of this classic calendar, on these very dates of 1989 the club that then presided over the unforgettable Rafael Olmedo challenged the San Diego Yacht Club, which shocked the world of sailing worldwide: three years later the "Spain 92 Fifth Centenary" had a splendid performance in American waters, being the leader of the Louis Vuitton Cup until the fourth day in the first of the "round robins," after defeating the mythical "Australia" first before the collection of thousands of Americans in the field of races and the "Sweden Team" below.

The participants will not miss one of the holy and sign ships of the history of the Spanish heavy sail: the "Pairo VIII," armed by José Luis and Constante Freire, who preside over a saga that has competed on many occasions for Mount Real and is now in the Nautico de Vigo. To the controls a young Luis Bugallo, who did not so much compete in optimist and is now one of the pillars of the Spanish ship in the "Youth America's Cup" that competes with the grympola of the Níutic Cambrils Club and will represent in June in Bermuda the Spanish sailing in this "Young Cup of America."

In 2017 they also repeat two other winners of 2016, the Margem do Azul III of Mount Real Club of Yates, with Portuguese Frederico Lopes to the controls; and in the class J80, the Virazo, which for this occasion changes as leader, replacing Willy Caamaño to Miguel Lago to the cane. From Vigo you will reach Baiona a group of J70 with names as well recognized as that of the Malacitan and former regatist of Copa América Laureano Wizner, which will sail with the Enersys 6. The ocean regatist Gonzalo Araujo will make his own on board the Bosch Service Solutions, and in the Sogacsa we will see Tamara Echegoyen, who returns to Mount Real after having received last year in the club the National Sailing Award for the best female team along with his Olympic partner Berta Betanzos. After the initial day of Saturday, the Repsol Trophy will continue with new tests on Sunday and Monday, festive of the first of May, on which the award will also take place to the winners, scheduled for 4: 00 p.m. at the facilities of Mount Real Club de Yates.

25 / 04 / 2017: Monte Real presents the 40 edition of the Spring Regata of Cruises - Repsol Trophy

The 40 edition of the Spring Regata - Repsol Trophy, one of the most traditional heavy sailing competitions in Galicia, was presented at the facilities of the Monte Real Club de Yates, which was created in 1978 with the patronage of the unforgettable Gloria Faria, then distributor of the legendary French fashion firm Courrege and which supported a new race that in the spring unites the ports and clubs of Sanxenxo and Baiona. The race is therefore 40 years old and does so by giving a special prominence to the marina village of Baiona, in whose waters most of the tests will be held, and from where you can see all the exits and arrivals of the different sleeves. There will be ships of the race classes, cruise, race-cruise, monotypes J80, J70, and Fisgaros are called to participate in a nautical event that will last for three days, coinciding with the bridge of the first of May, a dates that the Royal Mount has been using since that far year of 1982 when the World Cup was held in Spain... until then the Spring Regata, that is the Gloria Trophy, took place in June taking advantage of the festivity of the Corpus... but the celebration of the World has caused to search for other dates and was chosen for the first of May.

The initial trials of the Repsol Trophy will be held on Saturday 29th from 1: 00 p.m. The race committee shall design the tracks for the different categories based on two schemes, of the type barlovento-sotavento sticks or coastal routes. The design of the first stage, with the start of the one afternoon and different routes for the fleet, will be repeated on Sunday 30; and in both days, after the end of the competition in the water, the regatists will be able to participate in gintonic tasting, by the hand of Martin Miller's, with its premium gin, and Coca Cola, with its Royal Bliss tonic. The closing day will be the first of May with the latest tests from 11: 30 in the morning, and the award of prizes to the winners at 4: 00 in the afternoon at the green of Mount Real Club de Yates.

In the previous edition of the trophy, Pairo 8, of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, was won by Luis Bugallo. The Oils of April, also of the nautical Viguese, was made with the victory in the class ORC 1; and the Bosch Service Solutions, of the Club Marítimo de Canido, and the Margem do Azul, of Mount Real Club de Yates, defeated in ORC 2-3 and ORC 4 respectively. In the J80 competition the victory was for the Virazto of Miguel Lago and the Serralleiras of Eva María Moreno was imposed in the Figaro class.

Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the competition, the Monte Real Club de Yates has requested the Royal Spanish Vela Federation to organize, in 2018, the Spanish J80 Championship, to be held in the framework of the 41st Spring Regata. This morning, the club's president, José Luis Alvarez, was confident that the tests could be held next year in Baiona, and that Repsol would again be the main sponsor of the event. Alvarez thanked the refiner for years for the support of Monte Real through the sponsorship of the Spring Regata and the School of Sailing adapted for disabled people through the Repsol Foundation. He personally addressed the head of the Repsol Navy and Fisheries for the south of Galicia, Inés González Megido, who was also present at the press conference, sharing a table with the mayor of Baiona, Ángel Rodal; the head of the Sports Service of the Xunta de Galicia in the province of Pontevedra, Daniel Benavides; and the vice president of the Monte Real Club de Yates, Alejandro Retolaza.
