Marina de Denia presents its social activity through sports clubs
This morning, Marina de Denia director Gabriel Martínez presented the social activity that Marina de Denia develops through the sports clubs located in its facilities. "Our port has been supporting all those clubs, not for profit, that are engaged in sports activities for years"Gabriel Martínez said. The first to be installed was the Diving Club. His vice president, César García, has commented that "we are not a diving center, but a club that aims to give attention and service to partners who want to practice or learn. We do not organize competitions as such, but we collaborate in competitions, especially in diving photography and in the protection of the seabed". The second was the Marine Rem Club of Denia. "We needed an area where we located the gym to do the ground training and the possibilities offered by this port have multiplied. We never felt we could organize a race and courses. Throughout the year we attract many young people to the world of rowing and thus do great social work.", said Miquel Camarena, head of the club."Without the Navy of Denia this club really wouldn't exist. Our sport is very minority and with few means it becomes difficult to start. We invite children and people interested in this sport to come and practice it," Juan Antonio Sesé, from the Piragüismo Club, has commented.
The last to arrive was the Surf Club and its manager, Emilio Irigoyen, said that "the existence of it is due to the support of Marina de Denia". On May 7, the club will hold a test of the Mediterranean Circuit Sup Race. Three years ago, Marina de Denia launched an initiative aimed at generating a professional service for all fans of sea-related activities and the Nautical Activities Centre was established. At the time it was a pioneering initiative, which has become necessary for Marina de Denia. "The activities we develop are innovative, paddle surfing, pyranguas, rowing and kayak. After this time we know what the tourist wants. Our objectives are to offer local society and tourist sports, active and innovative activities. Open at all ages and levels. Always looking after and respecting the sea. We also have a quality label and each person who wants to develop a course can get a certification. Last year the novelty was the Big Sup and this year is going to be the Hawaiian pirage, a pioneering activity in Spain. We want to break the paradigm that you can't practice sea sports in winter. All our activities are open to schools", has commented Diego de Alzaa."We are very proud of all the achievements that the athletes of our clubs get every day and it is a pleasure to see them train every afternoon in our port"Gabriel Martínez said. In September a day will be held, open to the participation of the Marina Alta, in which each club will conduct its activities.
