Considered the cradle of surfing in Europe, Biarritz will this year be the main stage of the great festival of surfing by nations
Biarritz-Anglet will be the scenarios that will welcome the return of the "ISA WORLD SURFING GAMES 2017" to Europe between 20 and 28 May. Great world surf names have already confirmed their participation in a competition that has as its horizon the Olympic Games of Tokyo in 2020. Considered the cradle of surfing on the old continent, the French city of Biarritz will this year be the main stage of the great festival of surfing by nations. Just 30 kilometres from Spain, it marks the border between the sandy coast of Las Landas and the cliff coast where the Atlantic Pyrenees die. It is an area where you can enjoy a multitude of high quality waves on a coast line practically continues and that houses some of the best French beachbreaks.
Anglet is known for its eleven high-level spots that can be found within 5 kilometers. A whole luxury and variety of waves characterize this French region that is attended by thousands of surfers each year. Beaches in which lovers of this sport can find spots for a classic surf, for perfect tubes or for left and right infinite.
The International Surfing Association (ISA) together with the Fédération Française de Surf (FFS) bring to Europe an ISA surfing world after almost a decade. The Galo country will be the stage where the absolute national selection returns to a world competition of these characteristics. During the last days of May you can enjoy many of the talents of world surfing on one of the best costs for surfing. Sports who are already starting to heat up the engines for the great goal that will be the Olympic games of Tokyo. Names such as the French Jeremy Flores, gold medalist of the ISA World Surfing Games 2009, the Brazilians Miguel Pupo and Wiggolly Dantas or the South African Bianca Buitendag have already confirmed their presence in the competition.
Biarritz-Anglet will be the first destinations in which the Olympic surf age will make a stop. As the President of the French Federation of Surfing Jean- Luc Arassus recognizes: "With Tokyo 2020 on the horizon, these are exciting moments for the Surfing. We hope to welcome the best surfers in the world and potentially the first Olympic athletes of sport in what will be a wonderful Surfing festival"
