Naval and ocean engineers celebrated the 50 years of the creation of their professional college in 1967 at the Lope Theatre in Madrid. The event was invited by all the members of the Official College of Naval and Ocean Engineers (COIN) and marked the beginning of the commemorations to be held this year throughout our geography. The celebration began with a few words from the dean, Luis Vilches Collado, who especially reminded those engineers who founded the College and reviewed the challenges and benefits of the 4.0 industry. He also thanked the sponsors and collaborators who contribute to the anniversary: Sika, Port 21, Knutsen, Wiresa, and Comismar and in a special way to Navantia, Trasmediterranea and Elcano.

The video on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, which talks about the profession of the naval and ocean engineer, of COIN and which includes testimonies from collegiads.Begoña Cristeto held a masterful conference on "Industry 4.0" and how its secretariat is addressing the approach of technology to companies. It is worth noting the advanced self-diagnosis tool "HADA" which aims to provide the Spanish industry with a free, modern and quality instrument to assess its level of maturity in relation to the new paradigm of Industry 4.0. In the same way, HADA is designed to know its comparative situation with regard to other organizations with different levels of maturity, resources and activity.

José María Sánchez Carrión, made a documented intervention on how the COIN was created and the steps that the naval engineers of the time had to follow until they managed to consolidate it. Then, the video of the Business Angels network created by the COIN, Blue Ocean, which supports entrepreneurs in the maritime field was projected. The collegiates José María Lossada and Jesús Saenz de Santamaría spoke about the Service of Mayors provided by the College. They were followed by Cristina Mateos, who represented young engineers and who highlighted support for young engineers who are starting their work. This block was closed by Juan Moya, who played live from Germany, representing 15% of the naval and ocean engineers working outside of Spain.

At the event there was also a moment to recognize the work of the staff of the College, just before a medal was given to the Decans and to the descendants of those who had already died. Two of the previous decans, Manuel Moreu and Joaquín Coello, spoke a few words. Finally, Pedro Morenés closed the event by recalling his relationship with the sea and naval engineering and opening the beginning of the events of celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Official College of Naval and Ocean Engineers.
