Recreation boat enrollments recover after the fall of the previous two months and close the quarter with an accumulated growth of 6.5%... Balearic Islands, the most growing Autonomous Community, 63.53%
In the first quarter of 2017 822 recreational boats have been registered in Spain compared to 772 registered in the same period of 2016, which represents a growth of 6.5% of the nautical market. This is the beginning of a nautical season that improves your expectations, which are also reflected in the market for the rental of recreational boats, whose growth has been up to the last March of 36% regarding the results of the first quarter of 2016. These are the data collected in the Report on the market for recreational craft (energy-March 2017), edited by ANEN on the basis of information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
By length. They grow all the length, highlighting the segments of larger boats, from 12 meters. The ships between 12 and 16 meters grow by 95.5%, with 43 enrollments compared to 22 last year; and the ships over 16 meters increase their records by 240% (17 units over the 5 registered in the first quarter of 2016). The vessels up to 8 metres (85.3% of the national nautical market), are registered 701 vessels compared to 691 vessels registered in the first quarter of 2016, a growth of 1.4%. The segment between 8 and 12 meters grows by 13%, with 61 units over 54 registered in the same period last year.
By type of boat, water motorcycles register 8.5% more than in the same period last year (with 127 registrations compared to 117 in the first quarter of 2016). The motor ships also grow, by 3.9%, with 398 enrollments (383 registered in the same period of 2016). The folding pneumatic vessels increase their enrolment by 6.3% and the semi-rigid are the best performing with a growth of 14.6%. The candle also grows by 2.9% in this quarter. The rental market continues to show a trend among the users of the nautical and in the first quarter of the year there is a 36% growth in the registration of recreational boats for the use of rental.
Catalonia with 20.07% of the market, occupies the first position in the national nautical market and has a growth of 7.17%. Andalusia remains the second Autonomous Community by market share with 18.13%, however there is a decrease in the enrolment of recreational boats of -11.83%. Thirdly, the Balearic Islands, which increases both in market share (it represents 16.91 of the national nautical market) and is also the Autonomous Community with the highest growth in its enrolment in this first quarter: 63.53%.
