This Saturday is another night to keep in the history of the Andalusian Vela Federation. More than sixty athletes and ten Andalusian clubs awarded, four special mentions and three Golden Insignia, was the harvest of the 2016 season and the awards that were delivered during a new edition of the Festival of the Andalusian Sailing, which for the sixth consecutive year was held at the Specialized Center of Sports Technification of Selling Bay of Cadiz, headquarters of the Andalusian Federation of Sailing in El Puerto de Santa María.

More than two hundred people gathered to share an evening / night of party that he presided for the first time Francisco Coro Izquierdo as president of the Andalusian. This year, Coro was in charge of doing the honors as host to the mayor of El Puerto de Santa María, David de la Encina, who was coming along with his sports councilman, Ana María Arias; to the captain of the Civil Guard, Felix Valverde or Rafael Pastorino, sports councillor of Chipiona, among other authorities present. Arrested by his board of directors, Coro welcomed everyone and gave way to the award of awards by Nicolás Mariño, technical director of the Andalusian Vela Federation and driver of the event.

One by one they went up to the improvised stage located in the ceremony yard of CETDV all the athletes ranking champions of the different classes, members of the picture of honor for their national and international successes, as well as the first ten clubs classified by ranking with the CN Puerto Sherry at the head of the brand-new 2016 champion, awarded by Coro to the club's Commodore, Dionisio Martínez Bouza. There were many special moments such as that of the young Pablo Belize, of the RCN of The Line of Conception, who collected the award on behalf of Rafael Trujillo, whom other commitments prevented him from coming.

The windsurfing was one of the most prominent classes in the hands of the winners such as the young Aurelio Terry, Fernando and Pilar Lamadrid, along with veterans such as Fernando Martínez del Cerro, Jaime Andrés, Curro Manchón, Carlos Ortiz and Miguel del Toro. The excellent health of the Andalusian candle was evidenced by the great number of awards collected by young athletes, the case of the young Ana Moncada who collected all the possible awards obtained in the Laser class 4.7, or the Spanish champions of Optimist Manuel Álvarez Dardet and Antonio Villalón.

After the athletes came the turn of the special mentions, which on this occasion fell to the Sevillian Ricardo Carracedo, best technician of the year 2016; the former sportsman and now coach, Antón Garrote, to whom the Andalusian Federation of Vela publicly thanked his help in promoting the CETDV as the basis of training among the foreign teams; the digital media TodoRegatas.com for the dissemination that since its creation dedicates to the Andalusian sailing and its protagonists, and the sportsman Pablo Torres Barragan, in a gesture of recognition to his efforts to the ocean and to bring his project to the port of El Batho.One of the most emotional moments of the night was the memory of some athletes and technicians missing in recent years, with a minute of silence from all present in a sense tribute to the memory of Martin Wizner, Carlos Gasol, Juan Luis Cervera, Pepe Duarte and the recently deceased Daniel Casas. The event ended with the delivery of the Golden Insignia of the Andalusian Federation of Vela, in this case three, which imposed on Antonio Burgos Cabañas, director of the already retired Andalusian, the Paralympic sportsman Arturo Montes Vorcy and the predecessor of Coro in the presidency for twelve years, Eduardo Zalvide Alvarez-Rementería. The three were excited and with words of thanks the greatest honor of the Andalusian and put the best brooch to a beautiful night between friends and lovers of the Sailing.

One more year, the Andalusian Federation of Vela will publicly recognize the successes of its athletes, technicians and clubs, and will give some distinctions to the people and entities that have stood out for their support during the 2015 / 2016 season, in an event that will take place at the Specialized Centre of Sports Tecnification of Vela Bahía de Cadiz, headquarters of the Andalusian in El Puerto de Santa María, next Saturday 1 April from 20: 00.

The event will be chaired by Francisco Coro on his first time since he became president of the Andalusian Federation of Vela and he will be in charge of imposing the three Golden Insignia of the night, one of them to his predecessor Eduardo Zalvide Alvarez- Rementía, who was president for the last 12 years.

The other two Insignia will be held by Arturo Montes Vorcy as a Paralympic athlete in Brazil 2016, and by Antonio Burgos, director of the Andalusian Federation School of Sailing in Malaga. In all three cases they will receive the highest recognition of the Andalusian.

In addition, a further 62 awards will be given among athletes, clubs and special mentions. On the stage there will be half a hundred athletes from a fortnight of Andalusian clubs, between Ranking champions and members of the Honour Table for their national and international successes.

Among the special mentions will be that of Technician of the year 2016 to the Sevillian Ricardo Carracedo, title given by the Andalusian technicians themselves each year; to the former athlete and now Olympic coach, Anton Garrote, in thanks to the promotion of the CETDV among the foreign teams, to Pablo Torres Barragán, in recognition of his efforts to bring to a good port his project of ocean sailing El Bicho, and to the digital media TodoRegatas.com in thanks to the dissemination they profess to the Andalusian sailing.

The first ten clubs classified by ranking will also be awarded, a list that leads the CN Puerto Sherry and the championships of Andalusia of Cruciero and Catamaran.

As every year, the Festival of the Sail coincides with the Championship of Andalusia of Clubs Teams to make the weekend a meeting date between regatists, technicians, managers, collaborators and friends of the Sailing. The race will take place on the days of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2, open to the Optimist, Laser Radial and 420 classes. This time the titles by class and absolute are at stake for the different clubs that can participate with a team by class maximum.

The CN Puerto Sherry defends the absolute title, while the RCN of El Puerto de Santa María and the CN El Trocadero do the same in the Optimist and Laser Radial classes, respectively.
