29 / 04 / 2017: Return the competition from RC44 to Sotrogrande and leader of the British "Team Aqua"

The British Team Aqua of Chris Blake, a new leader in the general classification of the RC44 Sotogrande Cup, moving Russian Nika to the second place in the classification. Third is also the Russian Bronenosec, after a day in which despite the complicated conditions that continue to prevail on the Gaditan coast, with strong rain, wind and sea, the fleet of RC44 left its hikes in Puerto Sotogrande to fight three races from 1130 hours.

The three ships that have taken the honor of the victory in the day are the Russian Katusha of Alexander Novoselov and Andy Norton as tactical, the British "local" of the Peninsula Petroleum area of John Bassadone and with the 25 times winner of world titles Vasco Vascotto, and also the Russian Bronenosec of Vladimir Liubomirov with Cameron Dunn to the tactic. The cancellation of the tests last Thursday due to the strong wind and sea conditions have caused a change in the planning of the final day. The intention of the Regatta Committee chaired by the American Peter Reggio is to advance the start of the Sunday tests at 11 a.m. in order to fight four races.

For its part, the team of Bassadone and Vascotto went out in the water with a desire to plant face to the seven contenders against whom they fight in this RC44 Sotogrande Cup and which has the support of Puerto Sotogrande, Sunseker and The Sotogrande Reserve. The Peninsula Petroleum was facing the first race of the day with an intelligent and aggressive navigation that raised him to the third step of the podium and would overcome with a first place in the next race. Despite the good shape of the team in the day the nerves played against those of Bassadone, taking the exit prematurely in the final test and scoring a fifth place on the line of arrival. So is the general in Sotogrande:

1. Team Aqua. Chris Blake. Cameron Appleton.6, 3, 1, 3, 2, 3, 4 = 22 points
2. Team Nika. Vladimir Prosikhin. Terry Hutchinson. 2, 1, 4, 4, 4, 2, 8 = 25
3. Bronenosec. Vladimir Liubomirov. Cameron Dunn. 8, 4, 2, 2, 5, 4, 1 = 26
4. Peninsula Petroleum. John Bassadone. Vasco Vascotto. 3, 8, 8, 1, 3, 1, 5 = 29
5. Katusha. Alexander Novosesov. Andy Horton. 1, 6, 7, 5, 1, 5, 7 = 32
6. Ceeref. Igor Lah. Adrian Stead. 4, 7, 3, 7, 7, 6, 2 = 32
7. Artemis Racing. Torbjorn Tornqvist. Francesco Bruni. 7, 2, 5, 6, 8, 8, 3 = 39
8. Charisma. Nico Poons. Morgan Reeser. 5, 5, 6, 8, 6, 7, 6 = 43

28 / 04 / 2017: The strong lift prevents the competition on the second day of the RC44 Sotogrande Cup

White day at the RC44 Sofa Cup that started on Wednesday in Gaditan waters. The strong time of Levante with which the Andalusian coast has dawned, in very strong wind and sea conditions, has caused the cancellation of the tests scheduled for the second day (third if we have the one dedicated on Wednesday to official training).

The most responsible for everything that happens in the water, Chief Regatta Officer Peter Reggio, informed the teams participating in the RC44 Sotogrande Cup of their intentions in the first hour of the morning: "We have checked the conditions out there since the first hour of the morning and we have gone out to see if there was any chance, but we have waves of more than two meters and the sea will continue to grow. It is more a sea issue than a wind - we have between 16 and 20 knots... all the teams have agreed to the decision when we have met; it has been unanimous."The RC44 fleet will be tied in the Sotogrande Port during the day waiting for the conditions to improve on Saturday and to be able to resume the competition from 11.30 hours.

With a light and unstable wind of about ten knots, the first of the four tests that the organization had scheduled for an inaugural day that has not been disappointed by its sports tension began at 11.30 hours.

The performance of John Bassadone's gibraltarean team could be described as irregular and with the unparalleled Vasco Vascotto to the tactic. The team in which the Andalusian people Pablo Rosano, Oliver Góngora and Gonzalo Pérez de Guzmán, in addition to the Basque Miguel Jauregui, the Galician Mikel Passabant or the Madrileño Robin Imaz, have shown an irregular performance in waters known as the palm of their hand. However, the Peninsula Petroleum team has been able to finish in fifth position. The general classification is as follows after the first four valid sleeves

5. Peninsula Petroleum. John Bassadone. Vasco Vascotto. 3, 8, 8, 1 = 20
6. Artemis Racing. Torbjorn Tornqvist. Francesco Bruni. 7, 2, 5, 6 = 20
7. Ceeref. Igor Lah. Adrian Stead. 4, 7, 3, 7 = 21
