Héctor Alvarez del Equipo Paralympico de España victor de la Regata de Solitarios en Valencia
It concluded the fourth edition of the Regata in Solitaire that organized the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia, which reached a good level of participation, taking into account the difficulty that this type of race houses: 15 ships. The winner of the test was the Paralympic regatist Héctor Álvarez patrolling "A Sea Without Barriers..." the ships "Strategos II" by Kiko Torrent and "Pestañeo" by Javier Moreno completed the podium. The exit was passed at noon, with the north-east wind of 8 knots of intensity that was increasing to 12 knots and rolled to the south-east along the day... consisting of the test on a 30-mile coastal route south to Culera and back, which the ships took between 4 and 5 and a half hours to complete.
"I'm so glad I won because I didn't expect it. It's the second time I've been in this race and my goal was to finish it, I wasn't looking for the result. I take this test as a challenge to overcome, so it's been a great surprise... I think I made a good way out, in the scrapping I rode fourth and saw the role to the left. I brought the cane to 100%, without using the automatic pilot, and I tried to make the tour shorter" assured the pattern.
24 / 03 / 2017: The Nautico of Valencia organizes this weekend the IV Regata of Solitaire Navigants
The Royal Nautical Club of Valencia organizes for the fourth consecutive year its Regata de Solitarios, a test only suitable for the most prepared regatists... it is a coastal race in which the ships with a single crew participate, which must demonstrate its ability in the management of candles and rudder at the same time and without any support... the setting up of the ship also plays a fundamental role in this test, having more chance of being made with victory the ships that are best adapted for a single crew, and not necessarily the most powerful ones.
In the last edition, the winner of the test was Gonzalo Calvo with his boat "Saona," followed by "Defend" by Pablo Vañó, both of the Real Club Náutico Valencia, and with the dianense "Vimara," by Vicente Sanchis, in third place. This fourth edition already has a fortnight of registered units such as "Brujo" by Alberto de Castro, "Reti" by Xavier Santamaría, who has just proclaimed himself a subchampion of the 200-mile A2 of the Altea Nautical Club or "Saona" by Gonzalo Calvo, who will try to revalidate last year's title."The solo races are very demanding, and the participants test themselves and their boat. Since the first edition of this test, we have had a high level of participation. The regatists enjoy a lot, as it is a different race where navigation is very different from the crew races they are used to. Here it is necessary to put into play all the knowledge and expertise of the navigator, which is always very interesting, and it recovers the adventure dimension of the height tests", says Pedro Quiroga, the club's sports director.
