Jesus Turró convinced in his last public intervention before the RFEV elections
The chairs that had been planned in the Metopas room of the Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona were short to welcome the many shipowners and sailors who came, Wednesday afternoon, to hear the proposals of the candidate Jesus Turró to the presidency of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV).
This was one of the last public events in Turró before the elections to be held on Saturday, March 25. The campaign has led him to explain his project throughout Spanish geography. There have been meetings and presentations from the Canary Islands to Galicia, passing through the Cantabric, Balearic Islands, Andalusia and Levante. "All these visits," explained Jesus Turro, "have allowed me to see in situ the reality of the national candle. Both have made numerous comments and positive contributions. Listening allows you to incorporate good ideas into our project. In this regard, the campaign has become short and I close it with a desire to hear more proposals."
In the presentation in Barcelona there were many well-known faces of the national sailing, veterans medallists such as Piti Millet (Montreal 76), young members of the current Spanish Olympic team, club sailors in light sailing or cruise or laureate shipowners such as Rafael Carbonell, winner of 4 Cups de Rey in Palma. There were also numerous directors of Catalan clubs, as well as August Vallbé and Leonardo García de Vicentiis, presidents of the national associations RANC (Cruises) and AEBEC (Classical Barcos).
Jesus Turró's presentation reviewed the key points of his program. The post of Director-General will be established in the human team to provide management accountability to the Board and the Assembly in a clearer and more professional manner than so far. José Luis' Josele 'Doresta will also be incorporated into the Board as the maximum manager of the RFEV Sports Area, providing his extensive and successful experience in helping and drawing the steps with the heads of the different sections and national teams.
The candidate also reviewed the economic issues of his candidacy, avoiding commenting on the current management of the RFEV until the results of 2016, which have not yet been presented to the Assembly.
Turró advanced that his project has already made efforts to obtain sponsorship support. He explained that "greater funding for external sponsorship would allow a much more effective management of Spanish sailing, from the start of clubs to high-level regatists." The candidate again stressed the importance of creating equipment, supporting the basis and, above all, "making it federated has added value."
In question time, the candidate responded to all the questions raised and took note of the comments and suggestions. The exchanges of views continued during the appetizer served on the terraces of the Barcelona RCN, which were given for the occasion.
