The German tandem composed of Shmuel Markhof and Andres Happich at the Euroflying Cup in Altea

German regatists Shmuel Markhof and Andreas Happich have been the winners of the 2017 Euroflying Cup. The Germans have been the fastest and have achieved the first position after a test that has been disputed in Altea waters... causing the podium to be completely dominated by the Germans for the second consecutive year. In second position, the couple Kai Schäfers-Filian Köning has been classified as winners of the last edition, being the bronze for Ralf Behrens and Lars Stöckmann. This European court event has also had the rank of Spanish Cup of the class, a title with which has been made the couple formed by José Sánchez Pastor, from the Nautical Club of Altea and José Luis Ruiz Girón, from the Nautical Club El Cano. This year it has been possible to navigate the three days planned, the good weather has allowed to perform 8 of the 9 tests that were scheduled. The first two days have blown up wind of about 15 knots and the last day has been fought with a south wind of 8 knots... a total of 12 vessels from three European countries have participated: Germany, Portugal and Spain. The Nautical Club of Altea has had a representation of 5 ships.

The Flying Dutchman is an international light sailing class for two crew members with a boat with a length of 6.06 meters. This class was Olympic until the JJ.OO. of Barcelona 1992, in which two Spaniards, Luis Doreeste and Domingo Manrique won a gold medal.
