The Nautical Club of Altea assumes in the middle of the Holy Week the celebration of the Spanish Cup of Optimist 2017, one of the most important sailing competitions infantil.-cadet of the whole national panorama. The proposal had come forward at the 2016 AECIO Annual Assembly, the Spanish Association of the International Class of Optimist, where it was decided by a majority that the Nautical Club of Altea was the one chosen to house the race. The celebration of this competition will also match the 40th anniversary of the club. Each autonomous community has a number of places to which only the best regatists have access. The Optimist Spanish Cup is, together with the Spanish Championship of the class, a competition that serves to classify and give way to the European and the world. Carlos Torrado, president of the AECIO, the Spanish Association of the International Class of Optimist, met with Jose Manuel Liceras, sports director of the Federation of Sailing of the Valencia Community, and Alvaro Arroyo, sports director of the Club Náutico de Altea, to finalize the details of the organization of the Cup of Spain of Optimist 2017. The sports and port facilities of the CN Altea will be adapted to host the 150 regatists along with their boats and coaches who will participate in this great event from 13 to 16 April 2017. The Club will have a tent for measurements, a new stranded area and stands with different products for the regatists.

The Valencia Community already has its equipment made for the appointment of Altea
The Real Club de Regatas de Alicante (Román Bono, Berta Campos, Cristina de Bejar and Miguel Campos) and the Nautical Club of Santa Pola (Javier Clement, Carlos Sánchez, Claudia Adam and Yolanda Clement) are the most regatist clubs contributing, four each. Three include the clubs of Torrevieja (Ángel Baeza, Adriana Castro and Antonio López) and Alicante Costa Blanca (Paula García, Alfredo Sánchez and Adrián López), while the Real Club Náutico de Valencia does so with two (Enrique Urios and Marco Altarriba) and Jávea (Luis Simó) and Benidorm (Mariano Cebrián) with 1. The Náutico Altea (Alejandro Arroyo and Vicente José García) provides five regatists, three of them by invitation (to be appointed) as the organizing club.
