Spanish Print presents your image for the Youth Americas Cup
Following the approval of the design by the America's Cup Event Authority (ACEA), the Spanish team at the Red Bull Youth America's Cup, Spanish Print, presents the image with which it will compete in Bermuda next June. In the design by Didier Gorón de Zink Comunicación, it respects the margins marked by the organization and the national flag, highlighting the firm Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, the main sponsor of the project. In addition, next to the hotel firm is also the Cambrils Nautical Club, the main sports partner in this competition and the Air Europa airline, the team's logistics partner.
Also, and coinciding with its image premiere, the team begins its fifth training on board the Ninja in the Royal Nautical Club of Palma, a 38-foot prototype catamaran designed for both Team New Zealand and Artemis training in the last edition of the America's Cup. Without a doubt the Ninja owned by the Evolution Sails, will be a very reliable test bank and similar to the AC 45 where the Youth America's Cup will be held. The planning will be to navigate all week by combining the sessions in the water and on the ground with videos and theoretical talks.
The crew will be the usual one composed of the greatest talents of the national sailing; all of them between 19 and 25 years, as the rules of the competition dictate. From Olympic regatists, Jordi Xammar and Diego Botín; world champions, Joel Rodríguez, Florian Trittel and Kevin Cabrera; European champions, Santiago Alegre and Spanish champions, Luis Bugallo and Joan Cardona. These regatists come from different points in Spain: Catalonia, Cantabria, Galicia, Andalusia, Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.
About the Red Bull Youth America's Cup
The Red Bull Youth America's Cup was born in San Francisco (USA) in 2013, with the aim of developing the new generation of talents that could compete in the American Cup. This is one of the events with the greatest media impact, along with the Olympics and the World Cup. In that first edition alone, almost 50 hours of television were achieved in more than 14 countries.
The commercial hook that these new catamarans have (unlike the monocascos) is much greater, not only because of the speed at which they go (they can reach 70-90 km / h), but because they are catamarans, they can navigate very close to the coast, so that a greater audience can take advantage of the great show. The races have also been shortened (about 20 minutes), which can be done several sleeves ensuring the tension at all times.
The team, which had to pass the selection tests of the America's Cup Event Authority, under the supervision of the sports director, Austrian Hans Peter Steinacher, will compete against 11 other representatives from 3 matched continents in the following groups:
