Campo, Romero, Barrios y Díaz, Spanish winter champions

The Piragüists Gabriel Campo and Eva Barrios in K-1 men and women, respectively, and Diego Romero and Belén Díaz in C-1, have today proclaimed themselves winners in the senior category of the 48th edition of the Spanish Winter Championship, disputed in the waters of the Guadalquivir River in Seville, proof that the season of the sprint Hernando Calleja has opened. Almost 700 palists from over a hundred clubs have taken part in the competition, also open to the sub23, junior and veteran categories.

In senior K-1 the kayakist of the club pontevedrese of Tudense de Tuy, Gabriel Campo, has demonstrated his great moment of shape by completing the distance of 5,000 meters with a time of 19-48: 730, ahead of his teammate Ruben Millán (19-49: 440) and Albert Marti of Baynoles (19-50: 220). The Olympic Iñigo Peña del Zumaiako has been four (20-01: 030) not meeting the forecasts he was given as a favorite and the Spanish-manchego Francisco Cubelos de Talavera, winner yesterday of the classification control over 2,000 meters, had to conform to the fifth square (20-06: 450)... with this data the Tudense was proclaimed national champion again.

In women K-1 the victory has been for the Zamoran Eva Barrios (Durius-Sanabria, 22-24: 090), followed by another specialist of Castilla and León in long distances, Laura Pedruelo (Convento-Duero 22-28: 320), and the Basque Begoña Lazcano; 22-28: 520).

In canoe, the male C-1 has offered Galician rule with the triumph of Diego Romero (Breogán 22-54: 460), followed by Manuel Garrido (Tudense 23-01s: 440) and Nuno Pinto (Pontedecures 23-12: 440). The C-1 of women has recorded the victory of Bethlehem Diaz (Badajoz, 26-49: 900), ahead of Patricia Coco (Cisne 27-20: 200) and Jennifer Casal (Pontevedra 27-23: 510).
