The sailing season in Asturias starts by the hand of the Astur de Regatas de Gijón

This weekend it starts in San Lorenzo Bay, the Spring Light Sailing Trophy and cruise, of the Real Club Astur de Regatas. Six competition days are scheduled to be held on alternate weekends, during the months of March, April and May. On Saturday, 11 March, at 12.35 p.m., the exit pistolet will be given to the light sailing fleet, in which the classes take part: Optimist, Laser, Feva and Snipe. Two sleeves will be held per day, with a trapeze, or a cane, depending on the intensity of the wind and with a duration of approximately 50 minutes. On Sunday 12, the shift will be for the cruises, at 1 p.m., the race committee will give the signal of attention in the Bay of San Lorenzo, to the first of the six days scheduled, five of which will take place in gijonese waters. To which must be added a coastal round trip between Gijón and Luanco planned for the last test of May 28. One more year the Spring Trophy is in charge of opening the race calendar in Asturias. A long-distance test in which the bulk of the fleet of light sail and Gijón cruises take part. Alvaro Pérez in Optimist, Covadonga Fernández in Optimist D, Alfredo Miranda in Laser 4.7, Sergio González in Laser Radial, Hernán Jiménez and Clara Gómez in Feva and Carlos Ordoñez and María Mendoza in Snipe were the winners in the last edition. For its part, the Taxus MedioAmbiente, by Alfredo Flórez in class I and the Espumeru, by Daniel Ponte in the II are the ships to beat by cruise.
