Armón continues the construction of the new oceanographic fishing research vessel, Dr. Angelescu.

The new coastal vessel of the National Institute of Fisheries Research and Development will begin to be built by Argon Vigo S.A in 2018. It follows from the signing of the contract concluded between the Spanish body and the Spanish company. The execution period is 11 months. With the contribution of a credit granted by the IDB, INIDEP will allocate the sum of $6 million (U $6,100,000) to the manufacture of a modern ship that will be able to develop multi-purpose research and will have a sampling plant on the main deck, half-water and bottom trawl fishing winches; oceanographic instrument winches and plankton sampling. In addition, it will have the basic facilities for the following marine disciplines, coastal: Physical, Chemical and Biological Oceanography and Fisheries Research.

"The ship will be 36 meters long and will work in coastal waters. Argentina has a large coastal area that needs to be investigated with a smaller ship. There are many areas of low depths, especially near the coast, where many of the biological processes that occur are transcendental to resources", explained the director of INIDEP, Dr. Otto Wöhler.
