The Maritime of the Abra prepares for Saturday a great reception to Didac Costa

Nautica Digital Europe Sports Highlights Sailing

As with José Luis de Ugarte and more recently with Unai Basurko, the Bilbao Ria will be populated by thousands of fans and dozens of ships to congratulate Didac Costa for his feat... it will be an unrepeatable show...

On Saturday, March 4, the Bilbao Ria will show an image for the memory with dozens of boats that from the Abra to the Maritime Museum will accompany the regatist Didac Costa, which has just successfully completed the Vendée Globe. The skipper will leave at 10.00h from the port of the Royal Abra Maritime Club-Real Sporting Club located in the Abra and will attract its boat at 11 a.m. to the Bilbao Maritime Museum. The ship may be visited during the day. And at 12 noon, within the framework of the SAIL in Festival (which is held from 2 to 5 March in Bilbao), Costa will deliver a Master Class in the Museum Auditorium for whose assistance it is necessary to be noted on the website of the SAIL in Festival (www.sailinfestival.com / sail-in-class /), as the places are limited. His trajectory, his history until he can begin the challenge and an experience in the Vendée Globe that for himself will be unforgettable.

Costa will visit Bilbao on board the One Plane One Ocean, the sailing boat with which he has just turned the world. And it will do so in appreciation of the support received by the Bilbaine Foundation The Walk On Project (WOP), which has participated in its team and shares with it a story full of values such as overcoming, determining and fighting for a dream. "We detected an important personal tune and a confluence of values, so we decided to support the Didac team," says Mikel Renteria, founder of WOP. "Costa reflects our values very well: do not give up, fight for a dream with effort and determination, knowing that you have given all the best." Undoubtedly, a great job from illusion, optimism and overcoming.

  • 9.15h-9.30h Reception of journalists in the RCMA-RSC to board the ships (upon request) and follow the entire event.
  • 10.00h Departure of Didac Costa and the rest of the boats from the RCMA-RSC.
