Mariano Rajoy, Ignacio López, Miguel Durán and Natalia Moreno received their awards in the "Tribute to Madrileño Sport"

The regatists of the Federation of Madriguera de Vela, with Mariano Rajoy, Ignacio López, Miguel Durán and Natalia Moreno, were one of the 1,200 Madrid athletes who were protagonists in the gala of the 'Tribute to the Sport Madriguera'. An event that took place yesterday at the Palace of Sports (WiZink Center) in Madrid, chaired by the President of the Community of Madrid, Cristina Cifuentes. Mariano Rajoy was awarded the National Inland Water title in 2016 in the Laser Radial class. A title that Ignacio López also achieved in the Laser 4.7 class, while Miguel Durán and Natalia Moreno were proclaimed champions of Spain Indoor Waters in the Optimist class. The four Madrid regatists belong to the Canal Isabel II Sports Club. The 'Tribute to Madrileño Sport' was an incomparable framework for paying tribute to 41 Olympic Madrileños, 50 World Champions, 69 European Medallists and 1,079 Spanish Champions in a total of 52 different sports modes. In addition, they highlighted the titles obtained by Paralympic athletes, with a total of 16 madrileños. The federation was represented by its president, Guillermo Poyán, accompanied by vice-presidents Alfredo Platas and José Mª Martín Puertas and the Vocal Pedro Fermín Vázquez. Among the attendees and supporting his eldest son was the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy and his wife Elvira Fernández.
