Since its establishment, the Siport21 Ships Manage Simulation Centre has hosted more than a thousand sailors who have participated in some of its Training Programs or in the implementation of projects of new port facilities or modification of existing ones. The company designs these courses to suit the customer's needs and with a methodology that has the certification of DNV-GL. These activities have been increasing in number in recent years in response to the increased concern in maritime safety and the improvement of the quality in the training of the Captains, Officers and Practics of Port, giving them greater confidence and knowledge in new maritime operations or in the event of emergencies.
Among the 39 ships that have sent their captains to the Siport21 facilities are BP, Stena, Knutsen OAS, BG Group, BW Fleet Management, Dynagas, Exmar Shipmanagement, Gas Log, Golar Wilhelmsen, Höegh LNG, Hyundai Ocean Services, K-Line, MOL LNG, Nakilat, NSQL, NYK LNG, Pronav, Shell, Stasco, Teeway and Thenamaris LNG, among others. It also highlights the presence of Practics of Port, as has been the case of A Coruña, Bahia de Algeciras, Bermeo, Castellón, Ceuta, Palma de Mallorca, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Tarragona, (Spain), Safi (Morocco), Sines and Portimao (Portugal), El Callao (Peru), Buenaventura and Aguadulce (Colombia) and Tuxpan, Manzanillo and Altamira (Mexico), Río Paraná and Río de La Plata (Argentina), among others. In addition to Trapper pilots from companies such as SAAM, Reyser, Svitzer, Tramarsa, Coltugs, Intertug, Coremar Goup and Spilbun. In these cases, Practics and Pilots have been involved in the development of manoeuvres for port facilities projects.
The Siport21 Simulation Centre, located in Las Rozas (Madrid), consists of three real-time simulators that can work individually or in combination, to emulate traffic and interaction situations of several vessels or vessels assisted by tugs, each operated by a Patron. Equipment developed by MARIN-MSCN (Netherlands). Each simulator has actual navigation instrumentation and visual reproduction of the scenarios, as well as incorporating environmental agents, ambient sound, audible signals, night scenarios and limited visibility (fog, rain). There is also the possibility of incorporating the action of realistic operation tugs into the maneuvers. There is a main bridge with a 260º projection screen that allows the perspective to vary from different angles and two autonomous government bridges, equipped with the same technology. The Simulation Centre is completed with a meeting / training room to carry out the explanations prior to and after each simulation exercise, where the findings of these are analysed. The company's technical team is able to prepare any required manoeuvre scenario, and model the area's characteristic maritime climate, the 3D-detailed visual environment, including bathymetry and topography, port structures, beacons, etc. In addition, if necessary, it is possible to generate numerical models that reproduce the hydrodynamic behaviour of a specific vessel, although a large fleet of representative vessels of different dimensions and typologies is available.
