550 optimist from 28 countries will be in Palamós in the last punctuable race of the circular... the leader is Arnau Gelpi of El Balís

The Optimist Excellence Cup (OEC) 2016-2017 faces the final line, and will do so with one of the most important quotes, not only in Spain but also internationally. Proof of this is the number of registered ones that in the absence of a week for the official start of the 28th International Trophy 'Vila de Palamós' -12th Nations Cup is already in 550 regatists representing 28 countries... a whole record of quantity and quality, which shows that Palamós, also in the optimist, is a reference at national and international level.

The race organized by the Club de Vela Palamós, which will be held between 16 and 19 February, replaces the gold brooch to a great season on the Spanish circuit, of international scope, in which it has been present at the headquarters of Vigo, Las Palmas and Torrevieja, with the presence of some 800 regatists from 30 countries. Figures that speak for themselves of what the circuit represents on the international level, as the main countries, especially in Europe, find in it a test bank and a perfect framework to develop their teams for international dating of the international class: IODA. As for the official ranking of the OEC, the Catalan Arnau Gelpí of the Nautico Club El Balís remains at the front of the provisional table, and does so by adding a total of 214 points. Gelpí, which has been present in the three races, with a partial of 1 ° -2° -20 in the three punctuable races. Two points from Gelpí is the canary Samuel Beneyto (RCN Gran Canaria), ending the 14 ° -1 ° -10 °. The third square of the table is occupied by the first female: Beatriz Gago of the Portimao Nautical Club.
