Jesús Turró es el candidato preferido mayoritariamente... pero no es definitivo por el momento

Jesus Turró is the most preferred candidate... but his victory is not final at the moment.

Jesús Turró Homedes is one of two candidates for president of the Royal Spanish Vela Federation. Since the age of 15, he has known what it is to compete in light sailing, Olympic sailing and cruise sailing... even with a participation in Montreal '76. I started sailing at the age of 15 and, since then, I have competed in Light Sailing, Olympic and Cruises. My experience includes participation in the Montreal' 76 Olympic Games. The 64-year-old Catalan Eete continues to compete in the cruise class and finn where he usually takes part in "master" races. Turró therefore offers a complete and extensive curriculum as a sportsman, as well as a manager: it has been a major club such as the Vilassar Nautical Club, Vice President of the RFEV, responsible for the preparation of the Olympic Team in Seoul '88, Barcelona' 92, Atlanta '96, and president of the Royal National Cruise Association. He is a professional doctor, who specializes in endoscopy, I have created and run different companies in different areas, which help to improve the health and safety of our society, while thanks to its constant growth they have generated more than two hundred jobs.

This is what the Turró candidate promises on his website,http: / / www.jesusturro.info /

We will provide experience and passion to modernize and manage our Federation with a new approach.

I have put myself in charge of a candidacy, which brings together a team of young people, with professional experience and demand, who aim to modernise and adapt the RFEV to the current and future needs of its members and the sport it represents.

The project of our candidacy arises from the need to recover the RFEV for its members: regatists, technicians, clubs and Autonomous Federations. A large group of people involved in the sailing sport, with knowledge and experience, have decided to meet the challenge of recovering and modernizing the RFEV and our sport.

It is about improving and adapting the RFEV to the twenty-first century, taking advantage of the best of what has been done so far and adding the qualities and enthusiasm of all people who want to collaborate. We will have the best human resources, looking for the best operativity and efficiency.

It is time to transfer to the federation everything learned and to return to the Sail some of how much we have received, after years of navigation and regatta. We will create a team of people who are enthusiastic about our sport, who have demonstrated professional and human capacity and quality in their respective fields, ready to contribute the best of each for our passion.

We are committed to giving a new approach to the organization that will allow new ways of growth and, above all, attention to all sectors that form the world of sailing. To this end, we will provide a young team with professional experience and demand capable of collecting the Federation's best legacy and giving it the push it needs to modernise it. This candidacy is born by the support of most of the sectors of the Spanish sailing to defend at all levels the DEPORTISTAS and their CLUBS, facilitating their journey to the high level and Olympic medals, giving them access to efficient technology programs where they share their knowledge and receive the contribution of the technicians, in close cooperation with the Autonomous Federations that are the main asset for the promotion of our sport.

We want to listen to the different groups and understand the current concerns to find optimal and effective solutions to the real problems that affect the sailing activity.

We will act guided by five axes:

1) Transparency: Our management will be exposed to all members of the Federation. For this reason, budget items and expenditure will be published on the web. The actions and decisions taken shall also be regularly reported.

2) Solvency: We have a long way to go in the organization and management of companies and equipment so we can commit ourselves to a professional management that ensures a serious, optimal and efficient operation.

3) Passion: We know this sport in depth, from the experience and pleasure of competition and navigation. We're sailing people.

4) Experience: We have what is necessary to be able to boost what the RFEV needs: management knowledge, sailing sport and Federation.

5) We can recover the illusion of being the most important Spanish federation in Olympic results. We have to make Tokyo a milestone. We can be a claim to the sponsors again. We can give pride back to the national teams. We must set brave targets and work hard to achieve them. We have human capital and we have strength.
