Santander is already working at full performance to meet the highest level of sail from 4 to 11 June this year, when the city will become the host of the World Cup final. The "exit pistoletazo" has taken place today in Madrid, within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), where the mayor, Gema Econo, and the Secretary of State for Sport, José Ramón Lete, have officially presented the test together with representatives of the various institutions and entities involved in the organization. Thus, the general director of sports of the Cantabrian Government, Zara Ursuguía, the adviser of Innovation, Industry, Tourism and Trade, Francisco Martín, the presidents of the Harbour Authority of Santander, Jaime González, and of the Royal Maritime Club of Santander, Jaime Ylera, the president of the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela, Julia Casanueva, and the marketing director of Banco Santander, Felipe Martín, entities that, together with the Cantabria Federation of Cantabria, are involved in the event.

The Secretary of State for Sport and President of the Higher Council of Sports has pointed out that all the institutions and entities involved will be able to "collect the witness of the successful" World Sailing 2014, and has offered "all the necessary coverage and support" from your department. Lete has added that for Spain nautical is "a strategic sector," not only because of the conditions of the Spanish coast for navigation, but also because it is "one of the sports that has contributed most to the success of the Spanish medallion."

The final of the Sailing World Cup, which will be held from 4 to 11 June in the waters of the Santanderina Bay, will bring together 250 boats and more than 350 participants from ten Olympic classes, a Paralympic and kitesurf. In total, five race fields will be enabled for testing, in which the best athletes of the RS classes will be measured: X, Laser, Radial Laser, Finn, 470, 49er, 49er FX, Nacra 17, 2.4mR and Foil. The World Cup final will be framed within the competitions to be held at the 3rd International Sailing Week, which will also include the Spanish Cup J-80 (June 2-4). In parallel to the sports competition, there will be a social and cultural program, with commercial and hostel area; musical, artistic and cultural performances and performances; activities and sporting events promoting different aquatic disciplines; exhibitions and leisure areas.
