Javier de la Gandara was once again relentless in the Winter League of Mount Real Club of Yates, a competition that lived its second day this afternoon in Baiona. On board the Okofen and with its usual crew, formed by Jaime de la Gandara, Diego Fernández and Hugo Ferreiro, De la Gandara was imposed on the three trials held this Saturday in the waters of the bay Baionese, thus adding up to six victories in the six races held throughout this month. Neither the problems they had with the spinnaker, nor the sea of the bottom that made it difficult to navigate the sailboats, nor even the good doing of other ships such as the Miudo by Storax of Francisca Barros, prevented the Okofen crew from crossing the line of arrival first in all the contested sleeves.

With this new full of victories, from the Gandara and yours are increasingly separated from their rivals, to which they are already over ten points. The closest, in second and third position of the classification, and tied to points, are the Miudo by Storax and the Vidito. The Portuguese of the Miúdo signed three fantastic races this afternoon, allowing them to rise from the fifth to the second. They did it with a fully renovated crew regarding the first day. To the commanders, Francisca Barros, a very young, luse regatist who has long shown his talent on board these monotypes. The Virazo de Miguel Lago, another of the classics on the podiums of the J80 competitions, came out, as always, willing to give war, but after a very good first sleeve, lost some of the edge and had to settle for the third step of the provisional podium, in which it is tied to points with the Miúdo.

Day 1, 14 / 01 / 2017 Start the season in Baiona with the lead of Javier Gandara

Three wins in the three trials held this afternoon in Baiona place the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara leader of the Winter League Class J80, organized by the Mount Real Club of Yates in waters of the Baionese Bay. The competition opened today with ideal weather conditions, wrapped in a day of sun and very cold, but with good wind for the sailing of the sailboats, as, with small exceptions, it blew above the ten knots practically at all times.

At 3 p.m., on time, the members of the race committee released the first of the tests. The ten participating sailboats, all of the J80 class, had to complete a double-round tour of barlovento sotavento, to which an offset was also included. Almost three miles away per sleeve that would give the crews enough room to prove their good work on the water.

And that's exactly what Javier de la Gandara's Okofen did. The sailboat patrolled by the historic ocean regatist and tripulated by his son Jaime de la Gandara, Diego Fernández and Hugo Ferreiro, managed to overcome a couple of small problems that arose along the race, and always first cross the line of arrival.

On some occasions they managed to advance the Cansino of Fernándo Yáñez and the Miudo by Storax of Tiago Roquete, but the Okofen managed very soon to recover his position as leader and to put himself back in the head. Thus, the De la Gandara leaders a competition that leaves in the second step of the provisional podium to the Virazo de Miguel Lago with its usual crew, formed by Gerardo Alonso, Juan Lago and Javier Lago. On this first day they achieved three third positions and are six points from the leader.
