The market for recreational craft in Spain has recorded an increase in its enrolments of 3.59% compared to the result of 2015, with 4,821 enrolments compared to 4,654 in 2015. One result, which is still positive, is a setback from the 2015 balance sheet, an exercise in which the registration of recreational craft increased by 8.48%. "The 2016 data we are concerned about for the 2017 financial year. From the employer's office we will work intensively with the Administration to promote new legislative and fiscal measures that promote the entrepreneurship and development of the nautical sector and prevent the recovery of the last four years from stopping," said Carlos Sanlorenzo, General Secretary of ANEN. These are the data that are drawn from the "Report of the market for recreational craft, energy-December 2016," edited by ANEN from the analysis of the information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
In length, the segment between 12 and 16 meters has the best result with a growth of its enrolments of 8.1% compared to 2015. This segment represents 2.6% of the market for recreational craft in 2016. It is followed, in growth, by smaller ships, up to 8 meters, with registration growing by 4.8% over the previous year, and still the most demanded with a market share of 90.2%. The ships between 8 and 12 meters fall in number of enrollments compared to 2015 and lose -3.9%, representing 6.3% of the national nautical market. Registration of vessels over 16 metres in 2016, -2,2% and 0,9% of market share also fall.
By type of boat, water motorcycles and motor ships produce the best results. The water bikes have registered 1,017 units in 2016, 15.7% more than in 2015, and also slightly increase their market share of 21.1%. The motor ships close 2016 with an increase of 5.8% of registration (2,143 compared to 2,025 2015) and remain the most demanded, with a market share of 44.5%. The candle that it had repunted in the first months of the financial year 2016, shows a decrease of its enrolments of -3.3% in the accumulated year, enrolling 290 units on the 300 of 2015. Sailboats account for 6% of the nautical market in 2016. Nor do the folding and semi-rigid pneumatic vessels in 2016, which fall -9.4% and -2.5%, respectively, compared to 2015. These vessels represent 11.7% (folding pneumatic) and 16.8% (semi-rigid pneumatic) of the market in 2016.
The rental market also loses ground in 2016, although with positive results that represent an increase in the registration of commercial vessels (charter) by 13.22%, the 2015 data that showed an increase in the registration in this subsector of 39.14% are not reached. In 2016, 1,259 boats have been registered in Spain for rental use (including water bikes), compared with 1,112 in 2015. The most required for the use of rent are the ships between 8 and 12 meters long, whose enrolments have grown by 18.5% in 2016, enrolling 109 units compared to 92 of 2015. However, the most required boats for the use of rent are the less than 8 meters that account for 86.4% of this market and have grown by 13.8% in number of enrolments (1,088 compared to 956 in 2015). By type of boat, the water bikes are the most required to rent with a market share of 40.6%, a growth of 12.3% in 2016 and 511 enrolments compared to 455 in 2015. However, the markets that grow most by number of registrations are motor vessels (21.2%) and folding pneumatic (21.1%).
